Once press pics of the new eclipse come out, I am sure there will be a few impressions of the convertible.

What Edmunds.com Says: The Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder will be crawling back into production with the sleek new look of the 2006 Eclipse for the 2007 model year.

What We Know: Due out in the spring/early summer of 2006, the 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder will be creeping back to the market just in time to contribute to the company's greater resuscitation plan. The 2.4-liter four-cylinder and the 3.8-liter V6 will likely be carried over to the Spyder from the standard Eclipse, along with five-speed automatic and six-speed manual transmissions, which shall be paired with these respective engines. Standard safety features should include both ABS and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, along with front and side airbags. The 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder will likely start in the low $20K-range when it starts rolling off of the Normal, Illinois, assembly line alongside its fellow "Project America" platform mates such as the Galant and Endeavor.

Default Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder

At the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in January.

Based on the widely acclaimed 2006 Eclipse coupe, the 07 Spyder will provide drop-top fun combined with head-turning design. Luxurious enhancements will place the affordable 2 + 2 convertible in an attainable exotic position. Both GS and GT trim lines will be available, each with a powerful MIVEC engine and 650-watt Rockford Fosgate Premium Audio system along with a few other surprise features usually reserved for high-priced convertibles and cabriolets.

Looks good, but there's even less space in the back (can't even call that a seat anymore...)
