It has been reported in Autocar, and Edmonds that GM are to unveil at Geneva a new small Cadillac based entirely on the Saab 9-3..
It will seemingly use the 9-3 in its complete form it uses the chassis and body of the 9-3 along with the Fiat diesel engines and the new GM v6 headed for the Saab 9-3
The car is to be built along side the 9-3 in Sweden.
Sounds like a slight top and tail of 9-3 to make a new Cadillac for Europe. It seemingly wont be for sale in the us (initially anyway)

GM are quoted a saying that when it is at full production they could build as many as 10,000 of these cross breeding babies..

The Saabillac has always been FWD, based on the Epsilon platform.

yeah blair is right. The rumors I read always said any small car would most likely be FWD. I wonder if GM will play the grill swapping game or if they are actually going to put forth some effort toward styling this thing.

So this Cadillac is going to do a 9-2 with Saab.. too bad.. because I thought the concept drawing of BTS looked pretty good.. I guess this is just a short term thing much like Catera?

No, not a 9-2, it's supposed to be a 9-3. And yeah, the pictures we've seen, or drawings rather, have looked very good, IMO, but then they mostly always do, only to leave us disappointed with the final product.

Personally I think Cadillac should stop this strategy of making their cars a half or one full size larger than the competition. It just confuses matters and it only works in the US. Now it's taking extra investment to build two entry-level Cadillacs, one for the US and one for Europe, even though they're both supposed to be gaing after the 3-series.

I think the plan for GM is to just sell any Caddy's in Europe to get the name out there. Do they even sell them here now? I've never seen one save for a few 50's and 60's classics, and those have all been LHD imports.

Have you even seen any interiors made by cadillac or other recent GM sedans? what is an "american" interior supposed to be - other than one having enough cup-holders for each passenger's big-gulp.
