CLS 55 v. M5
alright guys, since the cls v. m5 got a bit naughty in the other forum, i've transplanted it here.
autozeitung has m5 winning, auto motor und sport has CLS winning.

Re: CLS 55 v. M5 (knihc2008)
For both cars, great enginering, exilarating performance This is a hard decision, but I'd have to go with the M5 - more power yet cheaper...love that 7 speed! As far as styling, it is hard to compare since one is a coupe and the other is a sedan.

wouldn't the e55 be a more fair comparison to the m5 due to its similar size

sure but, honestly, we already know the m5 will whoop the e55's butt. the CLS should handle sportier, given its coupe status, therefore giving it a fighting chance against the m5. and it looks better. and they're both new.

Re: (olegk21)
But the CLS has the same mechanicals as the E55, so it's really not exactly new from an engineering point of view, but the shape is new.

Re: (Top Secret)
I couldn't tell without testing them....which will NEVER EVER happen. From what i know, i'd take the M5 (BMW lover, you know)

Re: (Reppu)
Depends on what you want. More of a luxurious high speed cruiser you would take the CLS. Do you want a agressive sporty car, you would take the M5. Although the M5 can also be a cruiser in p400 mode.

Aside from all techinical standpoints, the E55 and M5 should be compared instead of the CLS55, because the CLS is only a 4 seater, and i thought the point of both the E55 and the M5 was a family car to have to hold off the ferrari. the CLS, being only 4 passenger, is merely a coupe with a better backseat. compare that to the M6
