agreed and they should be doing this across the lineup. just becuase the Camero has the classic looks and RWD, does not mean its styling shouldn't be seen other models. the quicker Chevy can create some sort of brand identity based more on the camero styling than the current uninspired designs, the better.

I used to think that moving the Malibu to the shorter wheelbase would be a problem.. until I read that the current Malibu has less interior space than Camry, Accord and Fusion, despite having a longer wheelbase than all of them! It even has less space than the Impala with a 5-inch advantage in wheelbase! So it would make sense to move Malibu to the SWB (Regal) platform and the next Impala to the LWB (LaCrosse) platform, leaving room for the RWD Caprice at the top of the line.

My understanding is that the upcoming Impala and Lucerne will share platforms with the 2012 Cadillac XTS (Super Epsilon). The Cadillac will be available in AWD only, while the Chevy and Buick versions will be FWD.

The RWD Caprice will be assembled in Australia and will be imported exclusively for police use.

The upcoming Malibu, Regal and LaCrosse will all be based on the Epsilon-II platform, except the LaCrosse will be LWB.

The Malibu will also be re-badged as Chevy/Holden Epica and Daewoo Tosca for foreign markets (with minor changes such as bumpers and tail lights).

So pretty much all mid to full-size GM sedans will share in common the Epsilon-II/Super Epsilon platform. There's indication that a Super Epsilon sedan will be built and sold in Australia as a full-size Holden (which is currently in development in Australia). So there's a possibility that the RWD Caprice/Calais/Commodore will eventually be dropped in favor of an AWD Super Epsilon sometime in the future.

First of all, it looks absolutely huge, like they bumped it up to LaCrosse size. I'm not sure the added bulk is worth the extra few inches of interior room it might gain.

Also, you can see two clearly defined air vents atop an oval pod in the center stack. I'd heard that it was supposed to have some new setup where the vents kind of merged into the dash.

On the whole, a nice improvement, but so far not living up to the hype from the closed-door preview last summer.
