I'm with you SV, i'd say it was a fastback notchback type thing. Bit like the old 800
I also agree about the segment confusion. But then Rovers always were inbetween segments. I think it's gonna be priced around the £15,000 - £20,000 mark, which will put it inbetween C and D segments in the UK.
I'm just happy though that we've finally got a new MG that we can be proud of. I just hope and pray that it can be built in Longbridge, the chinese need to learn that a british built car will sell loads better than a chinese built one. Gordon Brown: take note, and do all you can to secure this car being built at Longbridge!
Theres some discrepencies................the american style notchback is a c-piller that goes down almost vertically.
If it was developed under the same arrangements as the Roewe 550, then it was designed in the UK by British (some ex-MG Rover) engineers at SAIC's Technical Centre in Worthing (I think) which has now been relocated to the Longbridge factory site. Although it was probably largely designed in the UK, there was doubtless a considerable amount of Chinese input during the design process.
Btw, I think this looks great, and its probably more thoroughly developed and better specified than MG Rover would've been able to do on their own, even if they'd managed to stay in business.
If there is any 'chinese' vehicle that would have a chance in the US, this right here is it. Its good looking, the quality should be good, and its a well-known brand name for most people.
