Isn't this pretty much dead considering that the people behind McLaren are themselves working on a small car and not a supercar?

No, you're confusing Gordon Murray's own new outfit who are indeed working on a Smart rival called the Type 25 for MacLaren Cars. MacLaren are still working on a supercar which is not to be confused with Mercedes-Benz' "SLC" project.

No the SLC has nothing to do with McLaren. Its developed by mercedes and the HWA (the AMG sister company that mercedes created to produce the DTM and GTR models)

I clicked on the dead link above, but I got the homepage.

I don't know if this was posted, but it looks gross to me, and it's not real IMO.

Gordon Murray hates not having round exhausts, so this would make no sense.
