Also, whilst useless for visibility, it let's at least some light in, so makes the rear seats less dark and claustrophobic, which, in this segment of cars that are often used as second cars and have kids in the back seat, is a good thing.

If that is how they chose to show they didn't "cheap out" on engineering then it's a rather foolish choice for allocating engineering resources toward.

And it was their choice to make, not yours. Seems to have worked out for them, considering the outgoing Clio increased its sales and market share in Europe every single year it was on sale, rising from 246,000 units in 2012 to 328,000 in 2018.

Yes, I was a bit surprised to read that even in it's last year, it was the segment leader in Europe; But then again, I do think the current model still looks great in flesh, and usually is great value in mid spec, so not that surprising...

The current Clio is a nice little supermini. Sure, the interior quality isn't exactly world-beating, and the headlights are perhaps a little too large for the rest of the car, but other than that, it looks as fresh as the day Renault unveiled it back in 2012.

It's no great surprise, and quite welcome that they've chosen to repeat the same styling formula almost exactly for the 2019 model. I'm sure it'll sell just as strongly as it's predecessor, perhaps even more so.

High-performance, go-faster stripes! This is why the French are design leaders.
