the A3 does a much better job of keeping proportions reasonable given the FWD platform but this is a huge step forward (not that the bar was very high). definitely a much needed grown up and mature version of the original.

Looks great. The DLO is surprisingly different (in a subtle way) from the A Class. The top window edge is a full continuous arc instead of more traditional segmented shape like on the A. Very mini-CLS

I actually saw a higher trim CLA today and was reminded how nice it can look. The base model has some trash/cheap-o details, but the upper trims get nice LEDs and more attractive cladding.

This is better still. Love the new grille shape. The tail lights are a bit shapely, but interesting. Another homerun interior for Mercedes too.

Perhaps they did a better job of hiding the plebeian underpinnings this time.

One can only hope. I had one as a loaner for a few days (and a GLA at another time), and, aside from it being a more handy size, I could not, for the life of me, figure out why anyone would get it above a nicely optioned CamCord....

I had a ride in one last week (a current, base CLA 180d with a DCT), and I'd very much agree that badge and design aside, it felt in any respect worse than other, non premium C-segment cars., let alone cars you could get for that money in Europe; No matter engine noise, performance, the DCT that felt like someone driving a manual for the first time, ride and noisy suspension or the build quality after 40.000kms in terms of squeaks, rattles and wear on some of the plastics. And boy is it cramped for a tall person...

I agree, it's a huge improvement over the previous model, especially around the rear. The proportions are still very overtly FWD I feel and haphazard. It looks very cab-forward.
