Default 2020 Mazda Unnamed EV

Some teaser videos of an SUV EV to debut on 10/23 in Tokyo.

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...fywZmiv016e3Dl

The videos don't show much.

Apparently, a rotary engine might appear as a range extender (!), according to an article on Car and Driver.

The profile looks like a CX-5 but electric?

Car and Driver said that the test mule was a CX-30, but who knows what the real car will be.

The shadowy silhouette in the video went by a bit too quickly (of course); it did seem to show something fairly upright, and since the CX-5 is a strong seller for Mazda, it makes sense that they'd use that as the platform. Interior flash seems to show a unique (and vague Audi-esque) gear selector.

Roofline looked too short? The little break for the spoiler keyed the rear length, but that white graphic blocks it the rest of the way.

I'm predicting a coupe-SUV thing. With probably bits of the CX-30, CX5, and 3 all blended up.

Talk about utter BS: "Mazda has a different reason...for its relatively small range. Itís looked at the entire lifecycle of a car and how that affects emissions, and found that a 35.5kWh battery produces..."

Translation: Mazda has developed a terribly compromised vehicle and is using spin to say it's an advantage.

Agreed.

And, as an owner of two EVíS, piping in fake engine noises and losing the torque happy acceleration - kinda why I love my EVís ...theyíre really missing the mark.

Not sure if this is a render but it looks legit. Looks like a love child between a volvo and mazda

What the hell is this?? Why would they size it like that? Tiny rear doors and a cramped back seat?
Black plastic siding is massive and cheap looking. Not a fan of the proportions of stuff on the face (headlight are particularly awkward, short grille with a big shelf/lip inside?).

Curious about the rear. I'm less enthused about this now.

That is definitely a photoshop. The font is enough to give it away as no respectable manufacturer would be so dated and corny, especially with electric vehicle marketing trends.
