The Chinese Taurus looks like a Ford Falcon FGX which makes me wonder why Ford hasn't even considered bringing it here in Australia as well. They could have also built it locally although i doubt that would make financial sense.

If CD6 truly is a clean-sheet design that is RWD oriented, then the Mustang should be fine. If not, they can just reskin the current platform.

wasn't the current mustang a mostly new platform? I'm pretty certain that it has enough life in it for another generation; Also, it#s not like the Mustang has shared any platform directly since the Fox models, or the Ford lineup would have been flooded with RWD models to join them on a platform.

Ford has had a great hand in the last say 15 years with the Mustang, I'm pretty sure they won't mess their most iconic model up with another Mustang II too soon...

Sort of, yes. They took the 05 platform and bolted in IRS and then discovered they needed to rework the front suspension, so it became new from all the tinkering. The 05 was supposed to be an 04 with IRS, but someone decided to go to a live axle and there was a 1 year delay.
