Default 2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class (facelift)

Official teaser "spy" shots from Mercedes.

More substantial than I think some expected. In addition to a new front end, the tail looks significantly revised as well.

I agree, it does look more substantial than expected (or, IMO required, I think the E-Class still looks fairly good, and is the freshest of the classic Mercedes sedans); But just like the A-Class sedan vs. CLA; I think giving it a more or less CLS front and rear end makes you just question the CLS even more (especially, as there is the AMG GT 4 as well);

I will also miss the classic Mercedes Grille with the 3 pointed star as free standing above the grille.

I feel the update was necessary once the new S and C class arrive, the current E would look rather unfamiliar and not in line with the rest of the family.

Tailights look like they might be shaped like the A-Class. Agree that this is an usually large change for a facelift, and I think it cheapens the overall design (making the E-Class look like it has more in common w/ the cheaper sedans than it does w/, say, the A-Class). Also not fond of the DRLs adapting the look of the cheaper sedans (or the CLS).

SNapped, with normal and AMG front end;

As expected, the front end of the AMG now looks more or less identical to the AMG CLS and GT4;
The rear end though looks more like a Lexus GS to me than a Mercedes....

this looks like a huge improvement. less bland and more crisp. looks like any hint of the double headlights is now gone.
