Default 2019 Škoda Scala

New Škoda Scala, successor of the successful Rapid Spaceback.

It surprises that even this model (which is now fully grown up to compete even Golf, although it has smaller platform) will have mostly all goodies VW Golf has.
If Scala would be priced as Rapid was, I predict good market result. It surely isn't technologically advanced or has some wow design in automotive market, but as Škoda it is very attractive.

Posted the same thing on another site about this: VW/Skoda REALLY hasn't been paying attention to every single failed attempted to remove the volume knob, have they?

Not nearly as dowdy as some of the spy shots seemed to indicate. I quite like it actually. It still has the Rapid Spaceback's not-quite-a-hatch, not-quite-a-wagon proportions, but looks much more sophisticated overall.

This would make a great VW in the USA. Much more stylish than the dullmobiles VW makes.

Less dull than feared, but still not exactly an exciting looking car. It will blend in though, and losdt the 3rd world character of the previous model.

On the plus side, the interior seems to be better made, and with less busy style and hard edges than any other recent B-C segment VAG product, including the new A1; The volume knob though is a bummer, especially after the not so well received first attempts of VAG ( or anyone else, actually).

One thing with the rear seats: Whilst rear air vents are a great thing and rare in this segment, why doe sit require such a massive rear console, robbing the car basically of it's middle seat (together with the massive tunnel, a thing most other makes manage to make smaller nowadays) - after all, this segment is more often used to transport 3 people in the back, more so than most large sedans, and especially the SKoda Rapid, which was mostly popular in Eastern Europe?
