I don’t see the harm in them, particularly if someone forgot or at night.

WEll, given how the ambient lighting in some Mercedes and BMW sedans already looks like a Las Vegas casion or strip club, I'm surprised it didn#t offer this feature before. Taht said, I think Saab or VOlovo used to have dicretely illuminated seat belt buckles in the 90ies....

More interior photos:

I think this looks exceptional, but the internet will pan it because "screens = bad" and the unfortunate perception of luxury is "more clutter = more luxury"
I love this minimal take. The huge swathes of material and lighting is very impressive. Seems like there's a continuous line of it all around the cabin. The way the screen wraps up from the middle console.

My main gripe is how the air vents don't line up with the screen...

would have been a 10/10 if that had done a more integrated instrument cluster instead of the cheap Ipad look. also center the vents on the center screen.

I don't mind screens, per se, I just mind eliminating ALL buttons and putting all the screens on the dash. It's a PITA to adjust volume w/o a physical knob, and it's also a PITA to make phone calls w/o physical buttons, as well.

If you want a screen for the HVAC, can you put it on the center console?

I actually think most people who are not regulars on internet forums actually love the knob-less and full-of-screen look.... Which is why car makers are happy to design interiors that way.

As far as the dash not being centered.... I wonder if that's b/c MB wanted the screen to be closer to the driver for improved ergonomics. The W140 S-Class also had a dash that was not aligned w/ the air vents.

That rear seat design. Wow.

Mercedes has really stepped up the style lately, its quite over wrought but then again so is most everything these days.
