And a lot of liquid fuels.

We will have an electric offroader on the market at some point, I am sure. But this is a segment where the IC engine may have some staying power. for reasons such as this.

And battery energy density is only improving.

from the engine and torque point of view ABSOLUTELY none! electric motor, with its insane control over spinning speed and its enormous torque is a dream engine for off road tasks... slightly more problematic is "its fuel" ;).
or, in other words, where to get it from and how to store it, when you're days away from "supercharging station". but, since we finally figured out that electric motor is ideal for transport (funny, railroad figured that out decades ago, both with diesel-electric hybrids and full electric trains), solution of that problem will come eventually. where-there in higher energy density of batteries, fuel-cells , or something third, doesn't really matter...

Comments on range are certainly valid.

However, if you have something that has (for example) 500KM's of range, or Cybertruck (mid range) 600 KM's of range...and you're probably doing maximum 200 KM's of off roading, maybe 200 KM's from your last charge point, you should theoretically be fine.

If camping nightly - then going on an excursion, most camp grounds that allow 5th wheels / trailers / etc - have 240amp service - so you could charge at night.

For the narrow few that want to go out in the boonies, for days on end, 300 miles out and 300 miles back - electric probably isn't for you :)

Not yet but its coming I'm sure.

Electric motors are, after all, tasked with getting these gas and diesel powered rigs unstuck in emergencies.
