Is this the North American version?

http://sarawananravindran.com/...-leak/

That's almost exactly what the NA Corolla looks like. The grill, headlights, and sheetmetal are all the same while the wheels, headlamp lense color, and grill shapes are different. What ya see is what ya get tomorrow.

Not bad, a mini Camry. You were expecting a Maserati?

Not a Maserati, but a bit of effort perhaps?

In side view it looks like it's the current Corolla with a nose and tail job.

It's the nose and tail that is the problem with the sedan. The fascia design and the tailights look awful. The previous generation Corolla sedan may have sent most people to sleep looking at it, but at least it was a pleasant, cohesive design.

The hatch doesn't look that bad in higher spec levels with alloys.

Because Toyota wanted to concentrate on the Tundra full-sized pickup first.

...which makes perfect sense if they came out with a totally new car.

But if the NA car is just the Euro car with a different grill, wheels, and tail lights... what exactly took the extra year, and caused Toyota to deviate form their normally rigid 5 year replacement schedule? I'm not saying I expected it in January 2007, which is when the European model was made available. But I would have thought that they'd have it ready by September or October, and release it as a 2008 model.
