Oh, dear. While I think that the current XJ is striking but ugly, I don't know if the same-sausage-diff-length works for anyone but the Germans. As sedans in general get much swoopier, I don't think the handsome, but ultimately somewhat bland, look of Jags is going to do much for sales.

The all-electric is interesting (and presumably a necessary change), but I don't think Tesla S buyers want anything but a Tesla S....

For the record, this appears to just be a mule, rather than the production body.

I remember the good old times where the excitement about the Jaguar XF was so great before launch that the thread amassed over 170 pages in the Car Spy Pictures section:

http://www.carspyshots.net/showthrea...ight=Jaguar+XF

12 years later, we're at a stage where a lot of people, including myself, are disenchanted and frankly bored to tears by the brand. And frankly, I can't see this changing with the new XJ.

I hope so. I couldn't quite tell from the text of the articles, which seemed to be saying that they were mules but then also stating that there were some heavy changes from production models. Chopped mules usually look more, well, obvious, so I wasn't sure. Additionally, the little teaser that Jag released of the XJ (which seemed more like a sketch) didn't seem particularly promising, in terms of an interesting design.

Hell, I'm frankly bored to tears w/ the industry. It's a mature industry, which means that everything is homogenized. SUVs all kinda sorta look the same. All sedans are becoming swoopier. Grilles are grotesque, cars are just way too big in general, and everything is focused on infotainment and alternative fuels (which doesn't really lead to much focus on the design of the car itself).

the XF body seems a bit short for an xj, I would have thought they would have used the current XJ or even the XF-L for a mule. Maybe it is testing a larger EV sedan?

Hopefully just a mule. Doesn't look very 2020 for an electric car.

I agree, and the XF body even seems to be shortened around the rear; At least let's hope it won't be some kind of pseudo CUV...
