Default 2008 Proton GEN.2 CPS

Just launched at the 2007 Motor Expo in Bangkok, Thailand. Will be available in Malaysia next year.

The front end with the redesigned front bumper & grille looks better & sportier than the current one sold elsewhere.

Shares the same dashboard & door panels as the recently launched Persona sedan (That means the addition of a proper glove box, better door handles & power window switch panels.). Hope the quality is better this time.

Most important bit? A new engine is now available, the 1.6 Campro CPS producing 125 hp & 148 Nm. Now, if Proton made a 1.8 version for export markets, would make it an interesting alternative over the Corolla hatch/ Auris, Holden Viva/ Chevrolet Optra, Kia Cerato/ Hyundai i30 & the Nissan Tiida.

More pics & info here-> http://paultan.org/archives/2007/12/...d-in-thailand/

On another note Proton attracted a lot of new buyers during the motor show's 2 week run, I mean, a total of 1,000 units!-> http://paultan.org/archives/2007/12/...nd-in-2-weeks/

Now, if this option came with the car...

heheee......

I'll take the last two on the left and the second last one on the right

Back on the topic, is this just a facelift and will it be available in other markets like the European one?

I'll take the one in the middle! hehe......

Okay, back to the topic, I don't think it's a facelift, more like a mid-life overhaul. Other than a new bumper skin, blacked out headlight housings & wheels, the car has new interior parts & a new engine. It will be available in most export markets next year, most likely after the Malaysian (Home market.) debut.

OK. So its like a mini-refresh.
I would like this is it was availiable with a clean diesel engine otherwise the petrol engines pollutes 179g/km which means those who own one in the UK may around £165* a year for road tax

* Pricing of road tax will rise around £5 (excluding Tax Band G which is rising to £400) in April 2008

i've always liked the looks of the gen2; it looks like a credible c-segment hatch (def. better proportioned and detailed than the auris, for example) apart from the old-style notchback, but apparently isn't yet.

VW should steal the nose treatment for the Jetta.
