If most you mean 1 then you are right. As we stand now, only the Hyundai Sonata is classified as a large car per EPA. Sounds like the Accord will be the second one - we'll wait for confirmation very soon.

As well as the Kia Optima. I thought there would be more since they don't seem any bigger than the Aura, Camry, or Altima.

Actually, believe it or not, the Optima is considered in the mid-size class per EPA. IIRC, the volume for large car class is at least 120" cu. ft.:

Optima is 118 cu. ft. (mid-size)

Sonata is 121 cu. ft. (large)

Clearly another indication the Sonata and the Optima is much more different than percept re-badges, and on that note, let me come back on topic.

Pending official measurements - the Accord should slot in as the second.

194.1" is the length. The biggest car is this segment.

Your'e right about the most things, but the Toyota Avensis for instance, is in Holland a great succes.

Toyota Avensis is a normal sedan, primarily for Europe. So it is an Accord rival, not an Accord Coupe rival. And i repeat it was designed with Europe in mind just like the Laguna, Mondeo, Vectra etc. Honestly i don't see where the Avensis fits in this

The temple of vtec has a complete summary of the 08 accord. Coupe and sedan. I'm not sold on the sedan yet - but the coupe is hot.

The discussion about the NA Accord should continue in the New Cars Accord thread. This topic should be renamed ''2008 Euro Honda Accord/NA Acura TSX''.

I hope this is closer to the Euro Accord than the NA version.
