awd jazz?

You didn't know about it???

Japan-made Honda Fit/Jazz units sold in home market have 4WD/AWD option (as Hokkaido is frequently filled with snow).

You know, believe it or not, that the the Toyota Avensis (which is built by Toyota Europe in their UK factory) may have a diesel in the home Euro continent...................but units exported to the Far East are equipped with 4WD as standard and these make up around 40% of all JDM Avensis sales (sedan and wagon combined).

And I think the 4WD drivetrain is installed in the UK factory (since only the JDM feature options are handled by the Tahara factory in Japan).

2.0 Xi (CBA-AZT255-AEPNH) is a 4WD variant of the Avensis in Japan.

Lots of cars in Japan have 4WD/AWD that are not SUVs.

Yes indeed, most cars in Japan come with the 4WD option, even the Corolla, Camry, Sunny, Sentra, Civic, Accord, Lancer, Galant, Mazda 323.... you name it...already had this feature in the 1980s.

That is the Honda Fit Aria (in Japan) or Honda City (in South-East Asia), that is the sedan version of the Fit/Jazz.

Direct rival to Toyota Belta (thas is, Vitz/Yaris sedan) or Suzuki SX4 Sedan.

The next generation is expected to be revealed in June 2008 in Thailand.

On a side-note, the new Fit makes really good in Japan: in the first to weeks, they got 20.000 orders (twice the number of cars they used to sell in one month)!

A Fit sedan would be great, but Honda probably wouldn't bring it to the states for fear of cannabalizing the Civic.

I have to disagree on that, because the Civic is getting more and more upscale with each generation. A new Civic LX sedan costs around US$18,500 to US$19,000 "out the door," and I'm sure Honda has considered a sedan version of the new Fit specifically for the USA market (since sedans are still very popular among American buyers) if they can keep the weight very close to that of the five-door hatchback.

I agree with you, a Fit sedan for the American market seems like a very reasonable choice but not specifically for the US market since China is now the biggest market for sedan cars and surely Honda has considered that as well
