I do agree, they really need to bring back MPS/Mazdaspeed models.

their 2.5 Turbo put in the Mazda 3 and MX-5 tuned for a bit more top end power would be great. They've got all the pieces there, they just need to put them together.
MP3 model ;)

Buy the Coyote V8 from Ford. Shove it in the Miata. Price it at $40K. Watch Miata sales explode.

Again, look at the styling and the colours. Most ppl will assume this is nothing but a facelift despite the dramatic back. Mazda should have introduced a fresh, bolder palette and the front looks just like that of the CX-5 which came out ages ago. It's a great looking car but won't win a new audience when most people won't know its even that new..

Eh, I think the only people who will care that it's a redesign will already know it is. The rest of the people will just be looking for a new car with pretty looks and an affordable price tag. The fact that it doesn't look like a redesign just won't be a factor for them to consider.

The biggest turn-off I'm seeing here is the sharply increased MSRP.

I find both to be remarkably good looking at least, and if the hatchback has anything remotely like visibility, I think its Italianate looks are killer. But it is pricey for that power.

Agreed. I can't wait to see this one in the flesh. But I probably wouldn't consider it at that price point.

I've read a couple of reviews on this car - supposedly the driving dynamics are unbelievable. Also saw one place that speced one out to a comparable Civic - and the Mazda was about on par...so for the $$$ - the 3 might be a good option.
