The most frustrating thing is that they had the perfect look nailed! (crash-tested door aside..)

Absolutely.

I guess the concept wouldn't have allowed as many shared Renault parts (at a claimed >70%, that must include body components as well, or windows at the 4 door)

I must say, on that very first pic, I kind of liked the new Smart, but the more I look at it, the less I do. I really looks weird with that pseudo two box front end (which is even useless, as there is neither an engine nor a trunk below it), and the resulting proportions remind me of those Aixam etc. 45km/h mobiles, that can be driven without a drivers license (and as a result, in SUtria are called "Drinker Porsche"

At least, it seems safe:

Brabus have brought the mental to the electric Fortwo... https://drivemag.com/news/smart-fort...mate-e-concept

Brabus Ultimate E concept. 150kw (204bhp), 0-62 in 4.5. Silly numbers for what the car is, and it's a concept, so if it was ever sold it would be silly money because it's a Brabus. Still sort of want one though :)

I would picture a 4.5 sec. to 62 time in a tiny Smart with it's high body and short wheelbase to be scary on "Apollo capsule reentering the atmosphere" levels ;)

That said, are tose triple fake exhausts on an electric car? Has bad taste reached new heights? Or is the concept actually not electric at all and the figures are just dreamed up?

Very nice powertrain. But it should have been put in a new Smart Coupe.
