I can see the rational for it, as it covers the actual C-pillar, but to have it floating like that with the black stripes top and bottom does make it look weird. No doubt someone will come up with an aftermarket wrap or something to make it blend in more.
On the 90 it is an option, from what I read.

I should have said "relatively important function."
A ladder attachment isnt much or a priority.
Land Rover used to have built-in air compressors. This was the location for that, I'd be more impressed, even if I'd prefer it blacked out.

Then again, I hated the Audi R8 sideblades, but they grew on me.

full configurator up, and wow this is expensive. certainly not going to be big competition to Wranglers with a base price of $50k easily going north of $80k

I read recently that the design of the new Defender was finished years ago and that Land Rover kept the design hidden due to their problems with the Chinese copying the Range Rover Sport and Evoque.
