Acura is hard at work at the NSX Type-R which should be RWD and be closer to the GT3 version in terms of being a raw supercar for the road. There are plans for a targa version as that will weight less and a spyder version similar to the Avengers concept will not happen.

Plans for a 2.0T Sports AWD hybrid sports car are under way and would likely use the NSX v2 (transverse MR) chassis. No harm in making something on a platform that was abandoned.

Honda has plans for a Widebody S660 (S1000) for Japan and probably Europe that is not a Kei car and would have a larger engine with more performance. This is also the S660 Type-R as Honda is going for a larger engine and not boost for reliability reasons.

S1500 (FR Roadster) is on track and it will be made for Honda's 70th anniversary in 2018 as a company similar to what the S2000 was for Honda's 50th. Plans are to have a slew of turbo engines including the Civic Type-R engine. 2+2 hardtop version as a Prelude is a possibility. What is more interesting is the plan for an Acura version and that might be powered by a new DOHC chain driven 3.0T which is rumored to be powering a new RLX and MDX (RDX, TLX, ILX, and so on on the Civic/Accord chassis).

Chiron is not impressive: looks like sh*t, no new tech, just power for straight line speed.

Ted Klaus says the new NSX platform allows for more derivatives such as a Spyder/Targa, non hybrid version, Type-R (which is coming), and even a 911 competitor! Though not all the versions might be built!

Also, there are plans to fix Acura again, and maybe a proper platform for their new 3.0T v6. This new v6 is probably not based off the NSX motor as that motor is too expensive, but a bespoke engine would be rather nice as the J series v6 is a little long in the tooth but still good. A big change will be that models might be repositioned because of this (Longitudinal platform for 2 top tier models).

Acura still has plans to use FWD based platforms though, but hopefully for less expensive models.

Perhaps the MR sedan rumors for Acura were really plans for a Front engined MR platform so they have room for a TMU ala NSX! This would allow for eSH-AWD and still have FR performance! Hachigo is a car enthusiast who drives a Civic Type-R as his daily driver, so he must be a true enthusiast unlike Ito who is an a financial enthusiast and only cares about the bottom line.
