Problem is, that the B-pilar is the most characteristic feature of the Audi R8. It's distinctive enough that as soons as you make a similar solution on a car, especially if it is a coupe (and forgive me, with from the front angle similar proportions), still most people think you copied it.
Like i foyu make a small car with pilarless greenhouse and a white or union jack roof, no matter what the rest looks liek, everyone says "Mini".
There are ok looking vehicles from China, and not all collapse when driven against a wall. So IMO tehre is no need to defend every crappy copy or so so design, especially as tehre must be thousnads of chinese cars (concepts & production) around, given alone the number of manufacturers multiplied by the sheer number of concepts everyone shows. WIth these figures, quantity must come before quality....
