So I was watching a movie, The Accidental Spy with Jackie Chan and this is the second time I see this, the first being in Endhiran (don't ask why). Anywho in both the movies, a sedan was converted to coupe and in both movies destroyed. In one a C class into a CLK (C209 gen) and the second movie an older E class into W208 CLK.
My question is, why is this done? Why not just get a normal CLK and destroy that Unless the cars undergo more mods that cannot be performed on a cabrio.
I have seen several movies where the car destroyed is actually styled to be something more expensive, with the hope no one will notice that they actually blow up something a lot cheaper.
Even the older models? Like the W208 CLK which both the movies were attempting to replicate? one movie granted was older but the other movie was from 2010 or 2009.
You never know, maybe it was some old surplus or just pure cost cuting.

If the budget for the movie or tv series is low, the solution is to crash cheaper cars.
I believe they sometimes also crash cars that have been damaged in accidents (they do a quick repair/ or modifiy it for its few seconds before the camera).
