To answer your question about the red car under wraps. It was just an older design study model that bmw were transporting from their design studios to storage elsewhere as confirmed on www.worldcarfans.com

Hmmm, thanks for the reply I wonder if that is indeed the case though, AutoBild seems to think its an actual concept if not mistaken
356 hp
590 lb-ft
4.7 0-62
3.76 l/100km
99 g/km CO2
Forget about what it looks like - BMW were never going to build it anyway... but the numbers... that's the future.
More torque than BMW's current 544hp Twin Turbo 6 litre V12 engine
More horse power than an E46 M3
As fast to 60 as the 555hp X6M
More economical than BMW's most frugal car at the moment, the 116d
20% cleaner than BMW's current cleanest model, the 116d
The future is bright, the future is 237 hp/litre.

exactly. more than anything, this was used to introduce new technology. it's about time someone combines the low end pep of a hybrid with the low mpg crusiing characteristics of a diesel. however, i think the styling of this, once made a little less conceptesque, would be beauitful. while it looks cool to have the American muslecar headlights, BMW should do something a little more original.

Exactly. Definitely and 100% a Vision car then and one i am more than looking forward to
Okay, now I've slept on it, the elements of the styling that I like are simply the ones carried across from the M1 Hommage.. this looks like the Hommage after going on a serious diet in my opinion. But where the M1 Hommage looked as though it could actually make it into production (relatively) unchanged, I doubt there's any styling elements here that will make it into production any time soon, except maybe the wider grille, but we've seen that already on the new Z4.
