Actually somehow the new Prius came to mind when i saw it, lol. I'm pretty sure its not a realistic chop, if it was i would have given it some time and thought but as it is i see no logic in it. Besides, if it was close to the real deal AutoBild would have placed it on the cover with a larger, more prominent photo as it is one of Europe's best selling and most loved cars. Ford still has not shown us the new C-Max or B-Max so i think the Focus is still at least 1 1/2 years away.
Well, to everyones somfort - AutoBild is actually always rather ooff with Fords (as much as tehy might be spot on with Merc's and VAG products - just remeber those crappy Mondeo chops until very shortly before the launch of the car), so I'd call these chops, "inacurat", to put it gently.....
I just hope it will end up with enough personality of it's own and not look like a blown up Fiesta. Focus name is too strong here in Europe to ruin it with bad experiments (like those chops) or boring evolution. They should IMO rather base the design on the Mk. I again, a great car looking fresh even after 10 years and already two variations of it's replacement around....

I agree on both acounts alhough i don't think Ford will go with a direct "sequel" of sorts to the mk1. It needs to appeal to the US in large numbers so it has to be bold, sporty and have a small dose of aggression IMO. The first design played a lot with triangular patterns and angles which for some it seemed more strange than sporty (especially outside Europe). I think the new Fiesta and Kuga designs, as inspiration, will lead to a more succesful global Focus which will be very bold and very sporty as well as quite muscular in its stance. And both the Fiesta and Kuga prove that Ford's Kinetic Design can be applied in many different ways and shapes to give distinct shells to each different car.
I didn't mean a Mk.I copy- personally, albeit detailing was good, I even think proportions of Mk. I were it' s best point. It looked muscular and sporty, much more than the Mk. II. Now if tehy can bring this general shape with some Kinetic detailing, that would be a sure winner. But proportions of Fiesta give me hope, best looking Ford (in the streets) for a long time (well, since Focus I)
