2006 Toyota RAV4

i think this is real...
http://www.clublexus.com/galle...s.jpg
looks very nice...the back is questionable though...the back looks like the Scion xA...at least from that angle
i wonder why they aren't going to make this a hybrid...they prob. will eventually...it's a better choice than the Highlander

Re: 2006 Toyota RAV4 (LEXUS FAN!)

If it is real then I like it. This pic seems to show that it is moving away from being an SUV and is going more cross-over.

LEXUS FAN! 08-26-2005 06:03 PM

i'm almost positive it is real because if that isn't, then we have found the world's greatest photoshopper

Charger 08-26-2005 06:04 PM

Re: 2006 Toyota RAV4 (LEXUS FAN!)

The back reminds me of the Mazda 3 hatch. From what I can see I like the front but the back pillar and the back lights look odd.

Naga Royal Guard 08-26-2005 06:05 PM

the matrix will be discontinued after this i bet

i don't see how it could be a photoshop, there's nothing chop-y about it. i really like it; i can't wait to see the interior

Redline 08-26-2005 06:40 PM

It looks good, but the numbers are what will really show wether its good or not.

Shrek 08-26-2005 06:52 PM

I see some Scion Xa in the rear of it and some TC in the front end

Ascariss 08-26-2005 07:29 PM

of course it's real, but there is an embargo on pics and info. tut tut tut, club lexus

very likely the real deal here...quickly glance and i see the b9 tribeca..which i don't care for...but at least the front saves it..
also, compare the motoring asia spy pics, and you can tell this is it...if those are any indication

That looks AMAZING... all those previous photoshops really got me worried that it wasnt gonna look good. BUT this is nuthin like them and looks WOW. Definetily cant wait fa rear-view and interior pictures, and also specs. Those alloys they look huge and i love them. I HOPE its got Dual-Exhaust thatll finish it off fa me.
The bak sorta looks Nissan Murano-ish from this angle...
http://www.nissan.com.au/murano/images/g04l.jpg

How are they gonna fit a 3row in the bak of this??? the boot looks small for another row.

nismo 08-26-2005 09:45 PM

Re: (scorpio14)

Yeah don't see a 3rd going in that small of space or would I want to sit back there.
Besides that looks amazing. Would never think the Rav4 would look that good.

Nodnarb 08-26-2005 09:55 PM

Re: (nismo)

I was going to suggest the possibility of an XL-7 situation where the 3rd row is esentially useless unless the 2nd row is slid forward a good way. But looking at the picture again, it looks like that possibility is out. Which is fine by me. Do we really need compact SUV's with 3rd row seats? Are there not better options for moving 6 people around? I'll need to see more pics, but from the C pillar forward looks nice. It, like most Toyota's minus the X-Runner, does nothing for me, but I can see this being an easy hit. Just another good, sure-footed step towards #1.

scorpio14 08-26-2005 10:21 PM

Re: (Nodnarb)

Yeah there is no need for a 3row... just getta Highlander/Kluger if u need the extra row... i know its gettin old but im sure an all-new one is coming soon.

Gian86 08-26-2005 11:25 PM

Rav4 is one of my favourite 4wds from Toyota because of it's looks in three generations including this one. Looking forward to rear and interior pics.

Nissan Murano
Thats all i can say...but if its real its a pitty IMO they didnt put a Tundra-ish truck face on it, i kinda liked that look...

Speedster S 08-27-2005 02:27 AM

Well I need to see more pics to make my final opinion on the car, but from this one pic im a little dissapointed.

Re: (ChargingMopar9)

It seems like Toyota is starting to follow the other car makers and is now, after all these dacades, starting to go for the whole "family look". Toyota(japan) models always looked very individual and did not follow any family or evolutionary designs like most other car makers. The Celica, MR-S, Corolla, Yaris, Prius, RAV-4 etc...they all looked completely different from each other. Now, this RAV-4 looks a lot like the new Yaris/Vitz, the up-coming Corolla and also has hints of Avensis. Dunno if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but personally, i find the new Toyota design not to my taste. Sure, this RAV-4 looks very nice and all but its just too ordinary looking. Plus i was never a fan of the Corolla and always thought it was/is the dullest looking hatch...and this RAV-4 reminds me of it

spwolf 08-27-2005 05:54 AM

hm, not really sure... Front looks a bit too plain (highlander) and no recent Toyota's had plain front end. Maybe different angle pics will show something else...

I thought the new RAV 4 was going to be larger, the one in that image looks kind of small to me....I have my doubts..

eh, in any case, wrong thread to discuss it, but i do believe that if the image is hosted on some free hosting service and yet taken from forums or website, people should post original source (it did not fall down from the sky).
cant wait to see it monday!

Naga Royal Guard 08-27-2005 08:55 AM

the ore i look at it the smaller it looks

Andre 08-27-2005 09:10 AM

Remember that I own a current RAV4... It looks larger to me. I think most of you were expecting something almost midsize, closer to the Highlander's size. That's larger than my current car, much better proportioned, and still has a nice small size which can likely boast a 30 MPG highway gas rating in 4 cylinder guise.

Naga Royal Guard 08-27-2005 09:46 AM

they need a v6, atleast for marketing

anonms 08-27-2005 09:55 AM

Re: (Naga- Captain Funky)

It's been rumored to have a 275 hp V6 (I'm guessing the 2GR).

anonms 08-27-2005 09:59 AM

Re: (Naga- Captain Funky)

Stylistically, I see the Corolla Verso (whereas most others see the Murano or Tribeca instead).
As for that front-end.. it looks very jelly-bean-ish.
If you look at how big that D-pillar looks, I'm guessing it's going to be emergency-use kiddie seats in the 3rd row.
Why couldn't this have come out when we were shopping for a small SUV?..... -__-

New Rav4 will most likely end up being built from Avensis platform, which is significantly larger than current Corolla/Celica platform it is using. Same platform spinned off Corolla Verso which has 7 seats, btw, so yes, I do believe that Rav4 will end up having 7 seats. And being just a bit larger than Corolla Verso, it would have enough trunk too, so I think we are looking at an vehicle slightly smaller than Avensis and bigger than Corolla Verso. Or should I say bigger than US Corolla and smaller than Camry? :-).
This could still end up being slightly smaller than CR-V...
As to the V6 - it has been confirmed already, to start production slightly after 4cly version which should be on THE MARKET in December 2005. (v6 in feb/march)

Actually, I'd imagine this is pretty much like a USDM Corolla Verso, except with more ground clearance and different sheetmetal.

Corolla Verso has space saving torsion beam...
