So yea, I picked up a small side job which pays extremely well and I was thinking, cars are great and everything, but my dad and my uncle both started out with motorcycles and I would love one...I know my mom is a bit weary but I have always wanted a crotch rocket...and while the japs are great and everything between the hayabusa and the gsxr and the cbr etc...me being an Italian, I want to go with my Italian heritage and get a badass ducati...now I know they aren't cheap...I would most likely look into once used, or look into one on a good financing program...I was thinking if I am going to do it I might as well go all out and bring out the big guns, the ducati flagship 999r...now, the bike is always negotioable because I know this is a pure ready to race bike and it would probably go 0-death in about 5 seconds with me riding on it tongue.gif But what do you guys think? I mean, for a So-Cal guy I think a bike would be perfect for all weather except rain which doesn't come along all that often (except this last season) and I will always have the truck to drive if conditions call for it...

You the racer type of guy?
Ever consider a naked-bike like the Ducati Monster 1000?

The moster is an awesome bike, but I have never been into that "naked" bike look...I seriosuly doubt I will be able to afford a bike like the 999r which is over 20 g's or whatever it is...I mean, I could always finance one I guess, but chances are I will look for a really nice, used or maybe new depending on the price ducati...

I am kinda new to the whole biking scene...there is nothing I would like more than to own one though...I know how to ride one, I've just been out of touch with all the latest stuff...Obviously I can't afford a 999r but maybe you guys could recommend a nice bike, preferrably Italian, preferrably 1000cc...obviously if the Italians are out of the question, then GSXR's/CBR's/Ninja's/R1's or whatever will have to do, but maybe those of you who know more about these bikes than I do can make some rcommendations...

the supersports are nice bikes too...more reasonable than I thought...but I have heard the maintenance on Ducatis can be pretty pricey...right now I am making between 300 and 500 bucks a week and being that I am still a student and living with my parents I really have no other expenses....I thought about starting out on a smaller displacement bike, but when it comes to power like that I get adjusted to it very easily and I always end up wanting more...I mean, I guess it doesn't have to be 1000, anything over 700 should be fine...I've driven dirtbikes before so I know how to ahndle a motorcycle more or less...the only real problem now is finding a ducati dealership...there's a couple local places which sell kawasakis/hondas/yamahas/suzukis, etc...but I havent seen any which sell ducatis...

I went to see my brother today. He was in hospital. He crashed his motorbike this morning and broke his collarbone.
When we visitid, he had just got back from the OR where they fixed a metal plate to get it from the Z-shape it was in, back into its natural form. He says he's never been in as much pain, despite the morphine.
You know what doctors call bikers? Organ donors.
You can't fall off 4 wheels.

yea, I have heard that organ donor term before...I know bikes are dangerous, but usually it is because of other motorists on 4 wheels why bikes get in accidents...bikers usually make better drivers because obviously you have to be more aware of your surroundings and you have to be a lot mor cautious...granted bikers do make their own mistakes once in a while, usually in the process of showing off or driving wrecklessly...sorry to hear that happen to your brother though...
