Seeing That the CIA has decided to send wookies into Iran and is currently replacing Belgium's food supply with freedom fries and Budwiser, I was wondering if any of you have heard any of the morerecent and colorful bits of "Conspiracy News", that everyone with an ionternet connection seems to be aware of (Unless you work for a government agency that is).
Come one guys, share away.

Here is the frst one. I heard this one from my cousin's neighbor's brother's cat, who said his uncle was there when it happened (so it must be true):
Once BMW opened their south carolina factory, local builders and carpenters began to lobby to have all fastners used in BMW vehicles (first in NC and then in Germany) replaced with locally made wood screws. As of this writting it would appear that they were succesful...

Hmm, conspiracy theory? How about that huge plane that went through the Pentagon and disappeared. The plane also made two small(er) holes in the building instead of one bigger (plane sized) hole on the wall. And how they captured all the footage and haven't released anything yet but they released all info and data of the twin towers.
The fact that a rescue team has to go in there and search for any living never even happend. The fact that they started to clean up the mess just 24 hours of the crash... don't you think you need more time to study the accident and maybe look carfully for the black box... guess it must of passed their minds.
I'm not into conspiracy theories at all until my freind showed me some info and links about it. Then he shows me a pic of the guys in the Pentagon doing a "what happend if" scene if a plane crashed into the Pentagon before 9/11. They had a small model of the Pentagon on the table with a plane in the center of the Penagon as if it went through the building(s).

Gee, thanks Santeno, for opening the floodgates and letting the loonies in with their crackpot theories.
The '4th plane' is the 'Grassy knoll' for the 21st century. Did nobody see the National Geographic Channel documentary on Flight 77? ( http://www.nationalgeographic.....html ). Watch that before you believe all you get out of that previous link.
Why do people feel the need to believe conspiracy theories anyway? Increasing disbelief of authority? Failing of moral and intellectual role-models? Decline of religion?
Complexity of society? Something else? All of the above?
I miss the good old days, when all you had to be paranoid about was nuclear holocaust.

Are you saying that the events and evidences about the Pentagon are not relevant at all?

pcread

exactly the opposite. People cherry-pick the 'evidence' they want to believe.

Try going into a forum on middle eastern politics and be prepared for a crap-storm of conspiracy theories about how pretty much everyone witha stick and a stone is out to take over every country in the region with the backing of some country's security or inteligence agency. The funny thing is that a lot of these forums take these things really seriously and many of the members refuse to believe the truth even when it's staring them in the face.
My favorite one is the one about how the israelis engineered the attacks on the world trade center and made sure the NYC fire department was there to film it. I have to run now, I can see the cows circling overhead and I have no umbrella.

Heck, there were even rumours that the recent tsunami was caused by an underwater atomic bomb, to kill muslims in Indonesia.
I've got a meta conspiracy theory for you. You know that in the X-Files, UFO sightings, abductions etc, were used to hide a larger conspiracy. Maybe that's what's going on today. Maybe some shadow world government is masking its existence/rise to power by spreading stories about 9/11, Bilderberg, Illuminati, Opus Dei, Kennedy etc. Very Emperor Palpatine.

I aint into conspiracy theories either. But what was that about jews knowing about 9/11 before it happened? What was the full story on that? And when an Isreali Jet bombed an american ship in the hope that the americans would think some other middle eastern country did it. Or was this all false information cuz why would isreal do something like that when america is funding them billions of dollors every year? Donno, there are some wacko conspiracy theories out there if you ask me.
:)

Some idiot with nothing better to do and a gripe against jewish people must have felt that spreading ignorance was better than actually being informed. A LOT of people died that day of all different faiths and nationalities. And yes that included many Jews and some Israelis as well. I know this not from hearsay, but because I live and work in NYC and lost a fair amount of business colleagues of both backgrounds in that attack.

Quote, originally posted by dezigNergy »

And when an Isreali Jet bombed an american ship in the hope that the americans would think some other middle eastern country did it.

Get the story straight, It was a boat not a jet and it bombed the USS Cole. and yes it was middle easterners who blew it up, not israelis. Isreals (zionists) terrorist attacks are behind the scenes. You don't know about it cuz most of the media is owned by the ppl who commit these crimes. There are even jews who are against the acts of isreal!!
Read this page... http://www.geocities.com/ameri....html WARNING. Some images displayed on this page are disturbing.
It shows who the real terrorists are. This is not aimed at the jewish faith, but the zionists. i have nothing against jews, i actually have many jewish friends who agree that the acts in isreal are wrong.
Here are some quotes: Every time anyone says that Israel is our only friend in the Middle East, I cant help but think that before Israel, we had no enemies in the Middle East.
 John Sheehan, S.J.
"When we have settled the land, all the Arabs will be able to do about it will be to scurry around like drugged c***roaches in a bottle." Raphael Eitan, Chief of Staff of the Israeli Defence Forces, New York Times, 14 April 1983
"We have to kill all the Palestinians unless they are resigned to live here as slaves." Chairman Heilbrun of the Committee for the Re-election of General Shlomo Lahat, the mayor of Tel Aviv, October 1983.
What you think of these?

Are you familiar with the term 'pogrom'?

Santeno
02-24-2005, 10:56 AM
Alright lets not get into this stupid argument about who is the bigger terrorist here. Israelis and arabs (palestinians and others) have behaved and in many cases continue to behave in manners that depending on who you ask, could be viewed as terrorism. That however is not the topic of discussion here, conspiracy theories is.
As it has been discussed in the past, since every time religious topics and political topics (especially those pertaining to middle eastern politics) are posted on the board, they devlove into wild misinformed claims and insults, they are not allowed on the board.
Now back on-topic.

Just goes to show though; the role of conspiracy theories in society.
The bogey-man in the darkness. Passing the buck. "It's not my fault my life sucks, there are dark forces at work that are preventing me from reaching my potential."
Just as religion can be said to be a unifying force to move society in a given, structured direction, the 'carrot' perhaps, so maybe conspiracy theories are the 'stick'. We don't believe in the devil anymore, but global .... (insert conspiracy -ism of choice; capitalism, communism, imperialism, zionism, terrorism, globalism etc.) will serve the same purpose. Something to blame, to fear and keep the sheep in line.

Santeno
02-25-2005, 07:48 AM
Exactly paul. People consistently find it so hard to come to terms with their own failings and shortcomings that it is always easier to blame it on someone or something else actively working against them or their beliefs. I guess taking responsibility for your own stupidity and working together to correct those shortcomings is just not fashionable anymore.

OMG, I HATE conspiracy theories. I agree with Paul and Santeno, they are the crutch of weak people who don't want to accept responsibility, who want to pass the buck. I was born in Romania, so this isn't ethnocentric, but ask almost any Romanian why things are going bad in the country, and it's because of the Turks, the Russians, the communists, evil western governments, or any number of outside forces but they themselves. Seems that every country and institutions is completely dedicated to keeping Romanians weak and poor. Our conspiracy theories don't get the press of those in the Middle east because we don't have terrorists running around blowing cities up, but they're just as absurd people.
By the way, did you know that the Russians invaded Romania in 1968 and the Romanians destroyed their invasion force by using a secret laser weapon? I didn't know it either, nor any news agency in the world, but it must be true, judging by the conviction I've heard this story repeated with, and from the many different sources.
Read the mainline news sources and read between the lines. Basically they report the facts, but biased to one side or the other. Conspiracy theories, on the other hand, the "real terrorists" and all that other crap, aren't worth your time to read.
