where you go to school. Truthfully, all it was was just ice. Nothing bad, really. Iowa street is kinda bad, and 23rd is slippery on the corners.

Its unusually warm for early January here, though its done like this quite a few times recently, and then snowed and iced hard a few weeks after this. We'll see what happens this time.

It's 40 degrees Farenheight (about 5C) and has been raining all day, but appears to have cleared up for a little while.
Was your Dad pissed because you were late? How late were you? I'd prefer my kid to be late in feezing rain than early

Well, it is boiling hot here on the Gold Coast, expected maximum is supposed to be about 36 degress Centigrade, which is going to be absolutely killer. Hot weather combined with tons of humidity - doesn't serve as the best weather.

Its been snowing since last night, and it has just picked up (We have gotten an inch of snow in about 30 minutes, if not more). Total accumulation is probably going to be more than 6 inches, since it is supposed to continue snowing into tomorrow. The roads are really bad (only a few are plowed, and the rest, including a state highway, are covered), no parking lots are plowed, and it looks like it is going to get much worse. Too bad though, its all going to melt by next monday when it is supposed to be 42 degrees.

It's 50 degrees here too...

In farenheight

Now, it FEELS like freezing after you include the wind chill and driving rain when you're outside. Humidity 75% (that's good compared to 30% two weeks ago, with the Santa anas blowing through and making it summer-like here).
It began raining at 8:00 this morning, it's 3:00 in the afternoon now, I just drove through the valley an hour ago and had to Ford the river which had already overflowed its banks. the road was about 3-5 inches under water. not a lot, but considering we're expecting this to be nearly a week, it will be later. Besides, imagine fording 5 inches of water in a Mercedes C230 with a Jacked up Ford SuperDuty behind you, not fun at all.

Africa? What the hell? He lives in the same state as me, but more 'outback' than me, where it is considerably hotter out there, but in no way is 50C possible. That is like a record and if that was achieved, it would've certainly been in the news, but I don't see that happening, and also the fact that the average max. tamp in January is only 35C...

that's maybe -20 C
Rain let up here finally. We haven't started the rainy season yet and we're already at nearly twice our annual rainfall levels. We're expecting another 10 inches or so at least (we're at 16, normaly have 9 per year)
As you can imagine it's wrecking havoc considering people here aren't used to the rain and snow, and neither is the ground, so we have flash flooding al ove and stuff. Something I found funny (Ironic almost) was that we had a train derail right before Christmas and damage two miles of track. It took three weeks to repair, crippled train serice since only one track was useable, an i's shared by 50 or so trains per day (28 Coaster, 20 some odd amtrak, and 10 or so freight I read). I'm blabbering
They finally got it repaired, opened it on Monday for service (yesterday) and in today's rain the same section of track was eroded from underneath and washed out

yea, So-Cal has been getting hit hard...what is this now we're up to the 4th wettest season in California History now right? 36.8 inches of rain or something since July 1st of last year...hey andre, did you see the news of that woman's house in Bel Air and the pool slid down the gulley and it was still intact? yea, pretty crazy...the tornado warnings are a bit out of the oridinary also, I mean I can understand the waterspouts because those aren't too uncommon, but tornados in california? strange...yea, well, luckily my area hasn't been too bad as far as flooding goes...being that most of my area is fairly new developement, it has good drainage, and they even just got done constructing this "earthen" dam being that there is some huge flood that is supposed to sweep the area every 100 years or so...whatever, but yea, the only real problem besides all the rain in my area is the fact that I can't wash my truck...so yea anyways...it should start clearing up a little later in the week, Saturday being the nicest day from the weather reports, but supposedly another storm system is supposed to come across Sunday...

The building was being updated, ironically to install new fire prevention measures among other things........Looks like a short circuit started it all at floor 21, where the firemen can't reach, and it spread amazingly quickly according to the fire department spokesman. No casualties, fortunately. The building is still standing, and it will be demolished in a few weeks.
