In an old issue of Autopista magazine (i think from october 2004), i have found this pic, which is supposedly the upcoming Toledo SW

I think it's much better that the regular Toledo. I wish it turned to be true, but i doubt it because it would simply blow away the regular one. This is a lot more good looking, and more practical as well.

I really doubt this one as the "SW" version would be the Altea...

The better name for this ludicrous car would be "Grande Altea" or, according to previous models, "Altea Vario".

Gorgeous! VW needs this in the USA. NOW!

If you ask me, SEAT needs to get direction with its products. If this is real, and it seems like it is, I think that it is a desperate move to recoup money invested in the hideous Toledo...

I dont know what Seat did with the Toledo, it used to be a sporty saloon and now its some sort of MPV with a growth on the back.

I really don't understand what happened with SEAT and the Toledo. I wonder how its sales are to see how much of a flop it really is

I don't know about sales figures, but I hardly see a Toledo or two a day, and I do see many Leons. And I live in Spain, and my job consists exactly in driving, so I'm all day in the road. Believe me, it's a real flop.
The problem is that VW wouldn't let Seat make a proper sedan, because the first-gen Octavia done so well, they wanted the second one to be in a comfortable position in the market, and, also, they wanted to "revive" the Jetta, so Seat was left with that... "thing", that, in my humble opinion, is awful. I think Seat is the worst treated brand of the VW Group.

I couldn't agree with you more.
SEAT should target Peugeot/Renault as a sporty brand and was precisely doing that a few years back.
What a shame

ABsolutely agree with "ACe of Spades"; VW doesn't seem to have any kind of clue what to do with Seat...
After killing the Marbella and later the Arosa (and yes, there is a market for cheap boxes in south europe - just look at the sales of Fiat Panda) they kill the quite popular Toledo (at least it was popular in here Austria and had a sporty image) for that, well, "thing".
Also they could have made much more out of the Leon.
But don´t wonder about VW startegy: Skoda is already so close to VW, instead of keeping it a discount brand to fight Dacia or the Koreans, another VW copy premium for not much less now - any semnse in that apart of internal canibalization? And killing SEAT "en passante". Great!!!

I meant the MK II Toledo, the one built from 1998 to 2004/5. That sold well.
I don´t remeber seeing a MK III one outside a dealer parking lot or without huge dealer stickers outside (i've heared that even spanish taxi companies don't buy them too much...)

IMO better looking Toledo than the current one.

There are not taxi companies in Spain. 99% taxis are self-employed workers, and they choose their cars, usually Octavias, 406, Laguna and Picasso.

Then foegive me - what i meant is that i've heared the new toledo is not popular as taxi

That first link appears to depict some sort of Leon-based saloon/sedan that could be the next Toledo as the previous one was a Leon with a boot/trunk. That seems like a smart and easy idea. Am I misinterpreting something?

That car should be the Bolero indeed, especially the pic Tidal has posted (which is just an A4 mule)

I'm surprised that the Seat curvy swage line has been adopted on the Bolero (if ofcourse that pic is for real) as I can't remember the official sketch featuring it.
I'm hoping Seat do a coupe version.

How many more versions can Seat stretch from one car.
The range for me has become so confusing.
The original Toledo was a hatchback that looked like a saloon
The second generation Toledo became a saloon and they
produced the hatchback version ( The Leon ) alongside
Then Seat introduced the Altea, the MPV thats not an MPV ?
So, it's basically a hatchback, right ?
Then the third gen Toledo arrives. A hatchback version of the
Altea ?. Yup, confusing. Ugly too.
Then they launch the new Leon, which has no saloon deriative.
The car is basically a squashed version of the Altea, sharing some
external components.
The Altea gets an Estate version, surely just a Grand MPV ?
Then they do this to the Toledo ?. I mean, come on. Either this is a joke
or Seat's designers have their hands tied.
Imagine if the likes of Ford did this to the next gen range, there'd
be a public outcry. Scenario
Focus gets replaced by saloon looking MPV thats actually a hatchback.
Sold alongside C-Max which looks remarkably similar, apart from different
rear ends.
Ford decide that there is a market for a C-segment hatch and introduce
a squashed version of the C-Max, which looks remarkably similar
Years ago, you used to get ranges that competed with each other, now
every manufacturer has some form of niche model(s) that they try to
outdo each other with, which don't really compete with each other.
Take Nissans Qashqai. It was launched to replace both the aging
Almera and Primera ?. A C-Segment car, it was designed as an alternative
hatchback competing in the same class as the Focus, Astra, Golf etc.
So, why is it Ford has launched the Kuga to compete ?, with The CrossGolf
before and GM apparently eyeing up an Astra based similar type vehicle.
It's madness ?!! , Bonkers in fact. Does this mean that Nissan
will follow suit and launch another hatch in the C-segment or leave that
to the non MPV Note hatch thats supposed to compete in the same class as the Fusion, Modus and Meriva class ?
When i come to replace my car in a year or 2, what do I go for ?
Being family orientated and owning an MPV, do I replace like for like
or go for an oversized hatchback that looks like an MPV but isnt or a
small hatch that looks like an offroader, but isnt ??.

Yeah, lol. Oh oh i have another one: Volkswagen! They announce the next Golf (VI) will have unique body styles for the 3 and 5 door versions. Translation: they facelifted the current 3-door variant and will launch it as the all new VI, they took the current Golf Plus which was supposed to be competing in a new blooming section (MPV), facelifted that as well and will launch it as the all-new Golf VI 5-door and the icing on the cake? The ACTUAL new Golf will be called the Scirocco, have a much hefiter price tag and be sold as a "coupe"!
Anyway sorry to drift away from the thread, i just thought it was a funny conversation. Back on topic now
