View Full Version : Toyota MR2

Hey guys,
I did this up yesterday (though I had the design in my head for a few days now). Just want to see what you guys think. It started out as my version of Lexus' supercar, but I ended up calling it an MR2 since Toyota needed some affordable sportscars.
I'm limited in size as to what Yahoo Photos allows, so, if any of you guys can post up a bigger pic for me, I would really appreciate it. By the way, the pic is not quite done. I didn't complete the interior or the mirrors, etc. Be kind.
http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/nutabegga/my_photos
Side profile is up now. Whatdya think, A, B, or C?
http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/...rc=ph

I think it's amazing... I'd love to see a profile view. Especially like the carbon fiber front spoiler. What program did you use?

01-19-2005, 01:25 PM
Thanks Domino! I used a program called XaraX! It's just like CorelDraw except smaller and easier (for me) to use. Hehe... I'd love to do a side profile when I get a chance to. As well as a rear view. I also have another design I did 6 years ago but I'm not sure if it's any good.
By the way, the specs are a little hard to read on the pic, but I was thinking it would have a 2.0L turbo four, with about 320hp, around 2600lbs. Some other silly features too, but nothing too radical.

Seems like a great design for a possible re-entry into GT racing for Toyota. Stretch it a bit and throw a high wing, fender mirrors, and a roof scoop on that baby and you'd have a sweet successor to the GT1.

I know... GT1 is an amazing car. Who'd have thought... a Toyota?!? But hey, apparently when they want to be cool, they can pull it off.

From what many critics have said, the GT-One should have won the 24 hours of Lemans. It was in a class of its own in terms of speed, but bad luck kept them from the top step of the podium. They had some innovative ideas with vortexes and that's why the GT-One was so special to me. I wished that they were more innovative with their F1 cars. BTW, I've almost finished my MR2 design and will post a fully rendered version. I wished I was able to create it in 3D for you guys, instead of 2D.

OKay guys,
After spending a bit more time cleaning up my original MR2, I decided to take Domino's suggestion to heart (thanks for making me work all through the night! ) and make a racing version. Not quite GT-One, but I think it turned out pretty good. Please let me know what I've missed.
PS. More carbon fibre just for you Domino...
http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/...rc=ph
http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/...rc=ph

Ha ha holy cow that is awesome!! Looks amazing in racing trim... and of course, the carbon fiber spoiler is wicked! If it was in full size I'd make it my desktop background!
Sorry you had to work through the night, but it looks worth it!!

p.s. Awesome job on the mirrors and interior, as well. I envy your skills.

Here's an incomplete front end view of my MR2 design. Still very rough, but you get the idea.
Also posted a couple of Lexus coupe designs from about 6 or 7 years ago. I still haven't seen the same kind of side shoulder crease in any other car. The Nissan Altima is similar, but sort of reversed from what I have shown.
http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/...rc=ph

Added another top/side profile view. I'm still working on what elements I want to use, so the different views may have slightly different design elements. I think, though, that this top/side profile view turned out exactly as I have envisioned.
http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/...rc=ph

Made some progress with the top side profile. Tweaked some other elements as well.
http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/...rc=ph

beautiful, yet again. I normally don't like cars in white but wow. That one is sweet.
