This is a 1.9-litre JTD version of Fiat's top-secret SUV, which is set to hit British showrooms next year.
The car is part of a joint venture with Japanese manufacturer Suzuki, and will form the basis for two Toyota RAV4-sized off-roaders. They are set to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, before going on sale in about 12 months' time.
And although the styling of this example is typically Fiat, with its Stilo-style profile, Croma rear end and mesh front grille, Suzuki's influence can clearly be seen in the cabin - the ventilation

controls, stereo system and dials are very similar to those found in the Japanese firm's Liana budget hatchback.
The images also show the raised ride height of the newcomer, along with the plastic lower body cladding similar to that seen on the Panda 4x4.
Both manufacturers will each bring their own expertise to the project; the Italian giant is supplying its respected JTD diesel engines and a punchy 2.0-litre petrol unit, while Suzuki has its mammoth experience in the field of off-road technology to call upon.
The car is critical for both companies, as it allows Fiat to enter uncharted waters and gives Suzuki the chance to sell a more road-oriented and refined SUV than the Grand Vitara.
See the spy shots of Fiat's top secret SUV in this week's Auto Express magazine.
Craig Cheetham

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk

at last decent pictures of it, looks good! only thing i don't like is in the photo of the interior, Fiat have used a rotary knob on the dash for the headlights instead of the normal column stalk
is this to be given its debut at Frankfurt??

06-27-2005, 08:50 AM
don't think so
the magazine said debut late 2006 but it will be shown before as it will be the official car at the 2006 Turin Winter olimpic Games (end of feb 06)

06-27-2005, 01:45 PM
As said above, that dash really does look worryingly similar to the Suzuki Liana's

a pair of scan from Autopista, made by Kenny13 at cochespias.tk
There's a new suzuki suv on which the Fiat will be based!

it matches with this topic http://www.carspyshots.net/zerothread?id=15929

Although that looks very good ( i think it's the Liana/Aerio replacement, i've already posted on the other thread ) i do hope Fiat makes their car significantly different from this one, and doesn't follow the Opel/Vauxhall Agila/Suzuki Wagon R+ solution of simply rebadging the car. I mean, up to very recently, they where known for making distinctively styled, original cars. Or at least, they where the ones who got rebadged, not the rebadgers.

doesnt excite me too much...kinda out of proportion and its not very attractive...

I rather like the Fiat version.
No, it's not classically styled but it's got a bit of character.

I really, really like the front of the Sedici, but the rest of it looks sort of 'blah'.
