Hey Ascariss - you made a boo-boo with the title; it's supposed to be 997, not 977.
Anyway, that rear wing is massive! It doesn't really look good, but hopefully it actually serves an aerodynamic purpose, eg keeping the rear end down at high speeds. If this example is true, we can expect some mega power ouputs from the best car in the world!

Thanks fixed it. I believe the wing will remain since if you look in the rear view, you can see camo covering it up. We'll see though when it is revealed.

I'm personally glad that they have the rear wing. Force people to see your history in the Turbo! But the sidvents are very poorly executed here. I say leave the widebody for the racers and let the street cars have a clean look.

I can't remember... perhaps both.
A while ago it was rumored the new Turbo would have rear inlet openings similar to the CGT.. Lets remember this 997 is a "restyling", not a completely new car.. In the 911 Turbo the intercoolers sit right behind the rear side intakes.. so they cant change that area too much, because the engine wont change, therefor the Intercooler placement wont change..
My guess is the intakes shape will change, but the rear panel of the car will STILL be mounted FLUSH with the door... It wont have that "seperated" look, which looks very cheap.

Drat. I was hoping for a "double decker" type spoiler to add a bit more oomph into the Turbo's rear... also, is it likely that the intercooler inlets will have strakes now - Boxster style? Anyhoo, perhaps the more aggressive spoiler treatment will be - rightly so - reserved for the GT2. Is 480 bhp still on the cards?

New 997 Turbo Barely Disguised
Our spies from the cold caught up with the sensational new Porsche 911 (997) Turbo, and for the first time ever they snapped the car bare of any disguising. The next Turbo will sport 460bhp and go on sale in spring 2006. It is also said that the new car's improved underbody aerodynamics and more efficient bi-plane style rear wing should result in a top speed well in excess of the current car's 305 km/h, although we wonder for whom that speed is not sufficiently swift. The Turbo will also adopt a new four-wheel drive system that allows power to be fed to the individual wheel with the most grip, handy when you've got an awesome 460 ft/lbs of torque to call upon. Expect the price to be in the region of 130,000 Euros.
http://www.germancarfans.com/s....html
http://www.germancarfans.com/s...L.jpg
http://www.germancarfans.com/s...L.jpg
http://www.germancarfans.com/s...L.jpg
http://www.germancarfans.com/s...L.jpg
http://www.germancarfans.com/s...L.jpg
http://www.germancarfans.com/s...L.jpg
http://www.germancarfans.com/s...L.jpg

I love Aston's too mate, but lets face it, nothing compares to the 911 in its class and recent reviews/tests prove it. The 911 Turbo for me is the most perfect car in the world. And i absolutely love this new one!It always amazes me how the Turbo always manages to look soooo much better than the normal 911. I never really liked the standard 996 and 997 looks, especially at the rear. But the Turbo was always amazingly beautiful and this one looks fanatastic as well. I wonder why Porsche even camouflages their test cars. We know what they'll look like....
The AM is starting to sound more interesting, but on porsche's side, they are Rear-mid engined as opposed to FRONT-mid engined, they are AWD as opposed to RWD, and the heritage porsche has is hard to beat, even by AM.

There's just too much going on with that front clip. It's not as noticeable on the yellow car as it is on the silver Autoweek picture, but still just.......too much.

Those foglights looks awful in the bumper like that. This whole thing looks worse than the old Turbo, it will still make up for the looks in performance though. I'm still holding out for the GT2 though.

yea, this turbo doesnt really do anything for me. theres really nothing about the exterior that stands out to me. but like redline said, it will be made up for with stats and the gt2/3(or maybe 4?).

I like how that sounds. Porsche could have a 38th version of the 997 911 on its hands! ha
