The sedan that slots in above the Passat and below the Phaeton is great looking, but the problem will be price. It will need to be in the same range as the Toyota Avalon pricewise, and somehow I suspect it won't. I find it funny that VW has not expanded its manufacturing capacity in Mexico so as to compete more in the American market.

What is the blue car next to the facelifted Polo? Is it something like the Golf-Plus? Can anyone translate the caption?
H

Actually, the head of VW (don't ask me to spell his name) said that because the Phaeton sold 6000 units that it would continue to be built and run at least several model years. He's been critical of the Phaeton and says it will be replaced by a different kind of vehicle down the road. I believe I read the info in Autoweek.

many have criticized VW coming out with luxury models all of the sudden a few years back (which they are right...given number of cars sold, Phaeton and on some levels Touareg), these sales number probably would have done better, i assume, under the audi badge, although that's something we'd never find out, aren't we?

Yeah that's what I thought it was. I agree it's a nice design, but I hope the roof ends up a bit lower as you said, otherwise it'll end up looking too much like a mini MPV or people-carrier. There are too many around and I hope VW will rise above it. The Polo must remain a supermini, not become a Merc A class or whatever.
BTW, you've probably driven past me in my Polo!
LB

I would love for this to happen, even if it would just be another A6
