Here are some spy pics from Autobild.de of the upcoming Frontera -- finally NOT based on a rebadged Isuzu but on the Chevy Equinox.

Doesn't look bad "Opelized", no?

I dont like the front, it looks very much like a rebadged Chevy, not European at all. Its better than Equinox, whos styling I never really cared for, but I think Opel could have done a beter job putting together their own version. Plus, it lost all the ruggedness and offroad ability the previous Frontera had. Now its a car based crossover. Ewwww,

I was under the impression - and I believe there was a previous thread about this - that the Frontera was going to share the platform of the new Daewoo SUV, not the Equinox. I believe these pics are old?

Yes, i have herd that same DoMiNo? I saw these pictures ages ago, but i still think they are OK. Much better than the current 'square' box that is the Frontera.

Yes, the S3X platform will be used to underpin the new Daewoo, Holden, Chevy and Opel (Vauxhall?) SUV's.

As with the Opel Omega, Autobild continues to reuse these old shops, allthough everybody who's well informed knows the next Frontera will be based on the Chevrolet S3X. There are allready spypictures of this car on this forum.
It's strange because in the past Autobild had a very good record of foreseeing Opels future. But recently they miss the ball regurarly.

The Frontera is definitely an Equinox and the new Daewoo SUV headed to Europe rebadged as a Chevy is an Equinox as well. The Pontiac Torment...oops I mean Torrent is yet another re-nosed Equinox. I have an idea for GM to maximize the potential of this vehicle. Here are some possible spin offs (humorous intent):
Buick Buccaneer
Saab 94.5X
Cadillac SEX
Saturn Rebate
There is no end to what can be accomplished with a new grille and a nameplate.

If you are going to change a vehicle TOTALLY, from a real SUV into a "hip" or "whats in" crossover, at least change the name. Frontera belongs to the off-road prowessed and REAL body on frame truck based SUV. This new one is nothing but a tall wagon. While some may not like the current Frontera, it does what it was meant to do very well. SUVs in Europe have just started to become popular, because before they were seen as vehicles for getting out of the city into more difficult roading conditions, and that is just what the Frontera (btw aka Rodeo) did and excelled at. If you are going to turn something real into this totally sellout "SUV", if anyone could call it that, then at least show the decency to change the name. :)

Those pictures remind me of a BMW X5. I really like the front tho, a big improvement on the first pictures.

i am sure there will be significant difference between the style of the Chevy version (Daewoo) and the opel Gm are not quite so silly in Europe to market the same car i 2 different price segments of the same market.. With exactly the same car..
Opel is higher up the quality and price order than Chevrolet so there will be diff exterior and interior IMO
Isuzu only recently started rebadging other makes of vehicles, and it has been in very small numbers. There are only the few thousand Ascenders, and the even less number of Honda sedans rebadged in the early 90s for SE Asia.
This should not be called Frontera. It has nothing to do with the old Frontera, which was a capable SUV and could go offroad. This is a raised wagon.
