Acoording with Solomotor.com (<A HREF="http://www.solomotor.com/NASApp/autoge/ChannelSm?loc=rev_sm,not_sm,a&id=64768&strproc=hm1" TARGET="_blank">http://www.solomotor.com/NASAp...c=hm1</A>), the 6 is receiving an update, to be first shown at the Geneva motor show in a few weeks.<p>Here is the translation of the article:<p><B>The Mazda6, that arrived to the international markets in the spring of 2002, was first of the vehicles of the new Mazda's Zoom-Zoom generation. Since then, it has won more than 100 prizes and has become one of the fundamental pillars of the recent success of the brand anywhere in the world. <p>"Although we are anxious to show the new MX-5, I believe that all the products of our new Zoom-Zoom generation must have an absolute protagonism", Stephen Odell declared, executive director responsible for Marketing, Sales and Attention to the Client. "it is specially rewarding to exhibit the new version of the Mazda6 in Europe, where so many successes it has harvested. With this update we have improved the product in as vital aspects as the silentness, the performances and the visual attractive". <p>Mazda has updated its external design, obtaining a more powerful aspect. Also, the rigidity of the body has been reinforced, thus improving its behavior and its stability. The motors (including diesel) have been modified of such form that, combined with new transmissions, achieves better performances with a higherrespect to the environment. The interior has been improved, like the sound insulation, which contributes to a quieter driving. The production of this model will begin in summer of 2005.</B>

Wonder if any parts were used from the CD3 platform which is based on the 6? Anwho, EVO or CAR said that the facelift is going to resemble the front of the MazdaSpeed version.

I hope they'll do minor design modification, cause the current one is still beautiful

This is one of those designs that ages very well. I think the same thing will happen with the 3 and definitely the RX-8

I hope that most of the changes are done with the interior especially the seat fabic.

On my wish list is that they improve some of the interior materials, and up the tourque on the engines.

i hope they don't mess with it too much, it's still one of the best-looking cars in its class.

I'm guessing it'll get the 6-speed auto. I wonder what exactly they are going to do with the engines..? The silver piece for the center stack on the dash should be something that isn't so easily scratched.. besides that theres not much to improve

I hope they still will sell the wagon and 5-door versions in the US. I havent seen one on the road, but they look great at the dealer. Just advertise them more Mazda, they are really nice!!!

I believ it will resemble the Mazda 5, as it is the new look for Mazda.

I've seen a few wagons around, the hatchbacks almost outnumber the sdans now<p>I love the 6 but the interior is a little too cheap IMO, so they need to do what nissan did with the Altima and give the exterior a few minor exterior modifications that work better with the design, and a complete interior overhaul.<p>I heard there would only be six speed autos and manuals, but I'm not sure because that may have been solely for the Mazdaspeed/MPS version.<p>6 is certainly on the list when we decide we can take on a new car (we were going to this month originally, but family problems have set that plan back indefinitely, but I know what I want to consider when we think we're stable enough to purchase)

As for the interior I have an '04 Mazda 6 and I can tell you that it isn't bad. Although it was no comparison to the Acura TSX (the other car I was looking at). For me it came down to price and the V6 is very nice.

Well, would they do any exterior changes? I mean, the fellows who bought a Mazda6 MPS might feel a bit cheated if the exterior already changes.

This is not a redesign, its a facelift. Minor changes expected in the styling. The MazdaSpeed6 will not be included in this facelift considering its a 2006 model in most markets. I actually think the MazdaSpeed6 hints at what the rest of the Mazda6s will look like just in its most extreme form...

i don't think the Mazda 6MPS hints at what the new facelift Mazda 6s. They will make it different from the current 6s or even 6MPS. <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.germancarfans.com/images/forums/banana.gif" BORDER="0">

Don't get me wrong, it certainly isn't bad, but sompared to the Mazda3 and some of the competition IMO it's a little cheap.. the center console starts to fade and scratch farily quickly, and te interior lacks some of the fullness of the 3 and 5.

a few months bacj, when 4car tested the 6 MPS, they said that the facelifted model would have identical front and rear lights to the MPS.

I love how they make it sound so like "OMG!" but when the car comes out... it looks all crappy. I could understand because he is trying to sell us the car...but i just find it hilarious that they would be like "ITS GONNA BE LIKE THIS! AND THAT! AND YOU'RE GOING TO FEEL LIKE THIS when you see it!"

Recent magazines (within the past month or two) have said exactly the same thing about the revised 6 using Mazdaspeed parts.
