I don't see a reason for facelifting this car now. It has been out for only two years or so, and it's still a modern design. I don't think this new headlights are any better than the current ones. If any, only the rear lights would be susceptible for changing, imo.

Just compare the vectra and the aura side by side, and you'll see how the vectra looks old...

The Vectra was launched, in the UK at least, in May 2002. Not sure when it was launched in Europe, but I would guess that it was around the same time.
Allegedly, the facelifted Vectra will be available for the 2006 Model Year, which will mean a launch around August/September 2005.
From what I hear, engine changes will be limited to 1.8i TWINPORT and 1.9CDTi 16v (100PS). The 3.2i V6 will apparently be dropped but replaced by a currently unknown engine. It is rumoured to be a 2.8 Turbo engine, but I am unconvinced. The current 3.0 V6 CDTi engine may well be replaced by the 2.4 JTD engine from Fiat/Alfa Romeo currently putting out 200PS, but again, this is unconfirmed.

Vauxhall and Daewoo have a connection between Chevy.

Since Vauxhall are largely just rebadged Opels (and at least one Holden), There is your connection. Thank goodness this is a car company and not a family we are talking about.

Sure they have Monaro, and they have VX which are rebadged cars but thats something else completly. There is no connection between Vauxall and Holden other than GM (no deeper connections).
It is unclear to me if facelifted Vectra is going to get completly new front end. Those lights look a lot like current Vectra's, with taped off corners that makes them look like Astra's. Its a good car, with decent everything. It is not overly exciting per say, but then again ppl in their 40's and 50's have different meaning of exciting than what we do....
Only problem with Vectra is horrible resale prices due to huge incentives. Thats hurting the image of the car.

The front is basically new astra with 3door lower bumper, I like it, always liked the new vectra in appearance, but prefer the 5 door to the sedan.

Front looks similar to Aura's, especially in grille and lamp shape. Maybe they designed the two side by side?

That looks really hot, but a bit too close to the new astra. I'm really curious about the interior, hopefully they will improve that because the current one is way too old-fashioned.

I wonder how much this Vectra will share in common with the Saturn Aura. Will it be just styling cues or are they being developed together. From what I've gathered the Aura will share the lengthened version of the Epsilon platform and the 112 inch wheelbase with the Pontiac G6. The current Vectra sits on the shorter 106-inch wheelbase Epsilon along with the Malibu. If this is just a refresh or a restyle for the Vectra, is it possible to give it a 6 inch stretch in wheelbase, or would that necessitate too many structural changes?

Thanks for the comparo shots Andre. They make the differences really stand out. From what I see, the C-pillar and the rear ends are totally different, which leads me to believe that the Vectra and the Aura will not, in fact, be the same car with just a different badge on the nose. Seems like the Vectra will stick to the 106-inch wheelbase while the Aura will go with the G6's 112-inch wheelbase, and the only thing they will share (besides the chasis in general) will be styling cues.

Hey, ascariss, the vectra's rear is cool, and artistic. Way better than c-class and mondeo's. Calin, since they already have designed the extended structure designed for signum, it won't be too hard to put a saloon body on that for this facelift. I agree it really needs a more fashionable interior. While they are doing this, face lift and improve the quality of the Malibu at least to the vectra. I don't know why the malibu is so low quality when compared to vectra, since they've spent so much effort to make the best in class refinement and quietness. And they screw up in the packaging, the front and rear of Malibu looks horrible, much worse than the current Vectra. And you guys are complaining about the vectra's looks. It will never topple the sales of Altima, unless they make it good looking.
The Aura is not up to scratch when compared to the Vectra either, first the badge design is a problem.
Since, aura and facelifted vectra is coming. Should we be seeing a facelefted Malibu too? Any news of a facelift malibu?

And from the looks of it, the front lights should be the same on the Aura and Vectra (at least they look like it).

Nope, they each have brand-specific headlamps, and the Vectra's are "softer"

hokman

The Aura and new vectra's headlamps are different. Look at the turn indicator for each lamp. The Aura has a whole blocked off section for indicator. Where the vectra has a light bulb inside for the indicator like astra, which looks better. The housing inside vectra's is also black, it looks like that this vectra is the GTS sports version. I hope Aura's sport version get this lamp too. And will Saturn Aura have diesel engines like vectra too?

the facelift is just a low cost top and tails job. The interior only have small changes such as a new stereo and seat trims, and the rear end will stay the same apart from smoked lenses. Just a low cost mid life facelift.
