Late 2006 Audi will bring out the RS6 Avant V10 bi-turbo with 600 bhp.

wfg, Hans.

what is the point? It is so vulguar but on the other hand its nice
01-03-2005, 10:55 AM
I was under the impression that all those rummors about a V-10 RS6 (of any sort) were just that... Rummors.

01-03-2005, 11:10 AM
IMO it could be that they will use the normal engine for the RS and maybe do an RS Plus version with the V10.

01-03-2005, 02:05 PM
If it were 600HP and looked like that, a lot of dads would try to switch from HEMI Magnums...

01-04-2005, 12:07 AM
600hp......i'm getting sick of such absurd figures.

01-04-2005, 02:24 AM
The V10 thing is all a rumor, no official statements currently. Audis announcement of ending their power race to focus on hanling contradicts this racious figure.
Assesing the possibility of a lamborghini V10 in the RS6, I say the engine is too long to be hanging in front of the axle. All that power would be useless and we would have another flawed front heavy RS6. Audi should stick to a turbo V8 cause its much shorter and would be lighter. If they decide to go the NA route, they should develope a W10 from their W12 engine and tune it to 500hp. IMO it wouldn't weigh any more than the NA V8 andit would be just as compact.
This suggestion sounds a little too expensive as it would mean they have two sinilar capacity 10 cylinder engnes in their portfolio. If audi cannot solve the understeering problem, they should forget about such a model.

Top Secret
01-04-2005, 03:20 AM
Yes, I think Audi themselves have dismissed the whole V10 idea, ultimately too costly.
Anyway, expect this car to be an absolute hoot, capable to go with it's more famous rivals. Audi has basically gotten rid of the whole understeering situation in the current RS6, maybe this one will finally remove all traces of understeer and therefore be able to smash the E55 and M5.

01-04-2005, 04:14 AM
I was wondering, what's the weight of each one of these three cars?

01-04-2005, 06:17 AM
i think audi really screwed up with the last RS6. they broke RS tradition by not only offering a sedan, but also by making the car a craptronic. they shouldn't make that mistake again.
also, the three RS6 sedans i see around here are all driven by soccermoms, which leads me to believe that the car was just a bit more tame than it should've been considering the RS moniker.

gone with the wind
01-04-2005, 08:52 AM
First of all the 5.2-liter FSI V10 engine will be a compleet new engine (Not the Lambo engine) and it will also be more compact and lighther then the lambo engine.
Further i also belive Audi need to stick with RS Avants and not sedans.
wfg, Hans.

01-04-2005, 09:15 AM
The RS6 will use according to lattest info a 5.2 lt V10 FSI (no turbos). The engine is a modified Gallardo engine and will be used in Gallardo too. The output will be around 530-550 hp to match M5 which is the target. 65 AMG cars may have 600 hp but their handling is only average , they have problems transmitting the power on the road and their auto gearbox is at least 10 years behind SMG so M5 is the car to beat.

01-04-2005, 01:57 PM
If the RS6 launches (not yet approved due to engine conflict S6 V10/marketing position) it should have something in the mid 500hp range. If it uses the V10, it will be the S6 V10, not the larger Lambo engine. From a technical standpoint, the push is for a V8. So you can see the problem with positioning the models and engines...
Like the S6, it would most likely use the AL600 transmission from the Bentley and A8 W12, which can handle the torque, and the more compact Torsen 3 variable front rear split diff. They can build higher powered engines, it just boils down to developing the transmissions to handle them. There will be no manual transmission since with awd there is little wheelspin in launches and the clutch becomes the fuse in the system - meaning burnt out clutches. That's why BMW isn't bringing a manual M5. I've heard that the next gen M3 might get only SMG.
"Article
The New 6-l-W12 Engine in the Audi A8
The new W12 engine installed in the Audi A8 is the result of continuous development of the W12 engine concept. By optimising the intake and exhaust systems and by reducing friction within the moving parts, power and torque have been increased whilst at the same time reducing fuel consumption. Installed in the Audi A8, as in the new Bentley Continental GT [1], is the new 6 speed AL600 transmission, in which the front differential is located forward of the torque converter. In conjunction with the extremely short W12 engine, this allows permanent four-wheel drive to be realised whilst allowing a very short front overhang of the vehicle [2]. That is a marketing issue, W12 is for A8 use only.
The latest story about the Audi S6 is that it will get a 380 bhp version of the NA 4.2-liter V8 FSI RS4 engine.
Source: Autotelegraaf.

wfg, Hans.

The Audi Rep for my area recently told my dealer that there would NOT be another RS6..
He said the RS4 will have "Atleast" 450hp, and the reason for this is because there are no plans in the books for another RS6.. So according to him, Audi is going ALL OUT on the RS4.

He also said the S6 will get the V10 that many sources have rumored in the past.

There`ll be a new S6 and RS6. One person from the quattro GmbH told that in the future modified Audis will come earlier after the beginning of the sales of the "production cars". Engine for the S6 and the RS6 will probably be a new V10(charged V10 for the RS6), which can be also used for a new S8.
The RS4 will get ~425 hp out of a V8 FSI engine. Audi can¬Ět say they`ll be more sportily without sportily cars

They say it might be Turbo-charged, but I don't see any intercoolers peaking through.
520 naturally aspirated HP and 400 torqs would be plenty, but probably won't be faster than the M5. Well if they're going to turbocharge it, then they sould make it a V8. Porsche got 480HP out of a 3.6 liter. Audi should be able to get 500HP and 500 ft/lbs of torque out of 4.2 liters easily. Perhaps borrow one of their engineer to help with the Turbo 'geometry' technology or w/e deal-eo.

they say they removed LEDs, but I think LEDs on RS6 won't be in the bumper but in the headlights itself. Would be pretty cool

the tach only goes up to ~6,500 rpm
I'd say thats pretty much a guarantee this thing is turbocharged. Otherwise it'd have something closer to the RS4's 8,250rpm redline.
