Mag X describes this as the next-generation Toyota Soarer, although the luxury coupe should be switched to the Lexus brand in line with international markets when the network opens in Japan later this year. A preview of the Lexus SC is expected to debut at the NAIAS next week.
https://gateway.nifty.com/serv...9.jpg

Doesn't look too shabby, it hopefully will turn out better than the current version (which, truth be told, isn't overly hard) I hope it looks similar to the GS, because then it will be a cracker!

If the LF-A looks similar to this, we will get a better idea of what it will actually look like although I think the LF-A is suppose to foreshadow a more exotic car slotted about the SC430.

there I went off thinking the LF-A was going to preview the new Tundra

lol, when exactly was SC430 released? it is too early for it to be replaced... might be some facelift though... it already got some kind of magnetic suspension in europe for 2005

Thanks for re-posting all of these Mag-X pics from the old forum griffon. If I recall correctly, our previous discussion also quoted a statement from toyota which said that they would be introducing a smaller coupe below the Soarer/SC430. At the time it was believed that the MagX image actually depicted that vehicle.

It also got new versions of dvd nav with bluetooth and eta (realtime info), this is the same as US models.
Also - from 2003, European models get normal tires (not runflats) which also improved the ride a lot which was biggest complaint from Europeans (harsh tires for harsh roads). There are still waiting lists for SC430 in europe, it sells fairly well...
Lexus Japan announced that SC will be introduced as one of the Lexus cars in initial lunch in August. Since they said they will offer unique products in Japan, it has to be different than Soarer.... I bet it will get facelift (around time for it), and probably an bigger engine to go with it as well (that new 460 we are hearing about?)...

I really hope Lexus doesn't use those vertical headlights ... I'm not a big fan of them.
It does have L-Finesse styling ... and the rear looks a lot like the LF-A.
I doubt though that this is an accurate rendering anyways.

looks more like an IS coupe...don't like it, but japanese magazine predictions are extremely unaccurate, so i'm not too worried

The title in the first picture say "New SC Concept debut!!" So I think this is a design from Lexus rather than magazine rendering. Anyway it looks great!

Well i cant wait to c the the SC Concept where ever its revealed. I hope they use both the 4.6L and 5.0L V8 and maybe the 3.5L V6 as the base model

I think the convertible at NAIAS will be the IS... they just released the facelifted SC (showing a SC concept this early would hurt sales of the 2006 model)

scorpio14
11-28-2005, 02:51 PM
WELL the SC came out the same time as the LS and the LS is being replaced end if 06... which means the SC should follow in early 07. Unless the SC has a longer life-cycle which explains y it gotta facelift 2years after the LS (somethin like that)...
Yeah i heard about the concertible concept at NAIAS... cant wait to c that. Maybe later next year or early 07 we'll c a concept (LF version) of the SC or maybe theyll go straight to the production version.

this can't be an SC convertible.. maybe an IS coupe concept. it looks so much like an IS.. i think an IS convertible would end up replacing an SC-sized car anyhow, so i guess it could be an SC concept.

I feel the current SC is better then the pic posted, and MUCH better than the prototype shown some time ago. Why try to compete with Nissan and other asian stylings? The current SC shows class and good taste. My two $0.02 anyway...

Will they IS-based coupe/convertible carry they SC name or the IS name? I suspect that it will carry the IS moniker. That would make room for a larger, GS based coupe/vert. Ideally, the SC would then become the roadster of the bunch.
