I love the quad exhaust . I wonder who they think they're fooling? It still looks like one heck of a performer. Good thing it won't be late this time.

The question will be if we really need that car. Isn't the GTI powerful enough

Makes for a more balanced car than a fwd GTi. The old R32 was a much more entertaining car to drive than the fwd GTi. Plenty of hard core VW fans in North America will eat it up.

Why would they change a car as good looking as the current R32 into a Matrix???? They could just run the car we have now for another 5 years and it would still look good.
Turning Japanese I think Im turning Japanese I really think so
Turning Japanese I think Im turning Japanese I really think so.......

I'd hardly call the new Golf 'Japanese', it still has trademark Golf styling cues.

This car should kick ass, but it would almost definitely be more expensive than the more powerful japanese rally duo. On the other hand the smoother power delivery would be more appealing.

Expect the R3-whatever to be about 10K-15K more expensive than it's Japanese rivals. Until I see official pics and specs, I'll stick with my decision that the R32 is the better car, and almost certainly the best-looking.

All in all, i would stick to the GTI instead of this one, and spend the extra money in anything else. Remember, Top Gear's car of the year....
