Styled in-house to give it a broader UK appeal - viewed by bosses as critical - the small car has hints of both the Citroen C2 and Hyundai Getz in its neat, boxy profile. <p>It was spotted by our spies near the Lotus factory at Hethel, Norfolk. Proton owns the British firm, which is using its expertise to fine-tune the chassis and develop engines for the new range.<p>The supermini is expected to debut in the UK in 12 months, and will follow replacements for the Wira and Satria. First in the showrooms, this summer, will be the Ford Focus-sized Wira five-door, which we showed in issue 786. And the three-door Satria, based on a shortened Wira platform, will follow later in the year, with a lower roof and sportier, coup-style lines. Proton will use the new cars as an incentive to increase the number of UK dealerships from 80 to 200. But despite these ambitions, there are no plans to introduce a diesel. At present, Proton sells cars solely in right-hand-drive markets, and Britain is the only RHD country that buys oil-burners. </i><p>From Autoexpress.co.uk<p>Anyone care to scan? 8-)</TD></TR></TABLE><p><TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD><i>Quote, originally posted by <b>ST170Essex</b> &raquo;</i></TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Here you go<p><IMG SRC="http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid102/p11e10234e5e80cdb5131c6955d46231b/f9ccf0c1.jpg" BORDER="0"></TD></TR></TABLE><p>Latest spy pics from Autoworld Photoalbum :<br> <A HREF="http://www.autoworld.com.my/photoalbum/listPhoto.asp?AID=3825&MID=leecs@1&CID=74" TARGET="_blank">http://www.autoworld.com.my/ph...ID=74</A><p>Info and images from UK Patent Office :<br><A HREF="http://webdb1.patent.gov.uk/rs-bin/RightSite/formexec?DMW_INPUTFORM=tpo/biblio&DMW_SEARCH_TEXT=3016857&PREVIOUS_FORM=BROWSE&PREVIOUS_SEARCH_FORM=NULL&BROWSER_TYPE=ie4" TARGET="_blank">http://webdb1.patent.gov.uk/rs...E=ie4</A> <p>TRM will be launched in early 2005. Design looks really modern. Although I'm not a fan of the front end, the rear looks very pleasing. overall the profile is very hyundai getz, but a much better looking car than the getz.

01-02-2005, 10:30 PM
maybe the front light is a little bit modern but the rear design totally horrible. maybe malaysian will like it because of the price and 'design'.but for me,i dont like new TRM design.

Well judging from the Alfa Romeo grill setup a seriously doubt it. However, since it looks nothing like the actual prototypes on the previous pages, I must assume that this is a just a styling model.

i dont know why should Proton launch it at the same time Perodua launch their MyVi..<p>i dont think its good for both carmaker to compete.. btw,Perodua MyVi headlight is too ugly compare to the origin Daihatsu Boon..

05-05-2005, 06:07 AM
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD><i>Quote, originally posted by <b>PlatForm</b> &raquo;</i></TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">i dont think its good for both carmaker to compete.</TD></TR></TABLE><br>??? why would that be? Isn't the puropose of business to make money in a market? and aren't markets competitive? Competition tends to be better for both consumers and the companies involved (assuming relatively fair competition and good progressive management that is).

05-05-2005, 06:42 AM
i agree that both should compete..but both carmaker i think not ready to compete even in local market yet.. if they compete head to head,of course its a win-lose situation..<p>i talking something to do with the national interest...sorry santeno...i wish they will compete each other but not now..

2 TRMs, 1 SRM and 1 Proton sports car spotted in Malaysia :<p><A HREF="http://chinese.cari.com.my/myforum/viewthread.php?tid=295215&fpage=2" TARGET="_blank">http://chinese.cari.com.my/myf...age=2</A><p>TRM launch is postponed once again. Rumours said that it is due to quality issues.

05-19-2005, 12:19 AM
this is nice.. i think its true proton will launch 1st sport car..probably based on Lotus GT 2+2.. but why they so slow to launch SRM and TRM?? btw,i dont agree that Proton launch TRM after couple of days Perodua launch its Myvi..

05-19-2005, 08:52 AM
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD><i>Quote, originally posted by <b>PlatForm</b> &raquo;</i></TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">btw,i dont agree that Proton launch TRM after couple of days Perodua launch its Myvi.. </TD></TR></TABLE><br>Once again, you fail to explain why? These companies are competing businesses, not partners. It makes perfect sense to bring a new competing product to market at a similar time than the competition. If the competition has a hit, you don't want it to become so established that it affects sales of your vehicle.

05-20-2005, 07:32 AM
i said that because i think Proton completely want to kill the MyVi sales directly.. and both carmaker are not prepare to compete in AFTA because the import volume not give both carmaker well figure of profit.. i agree that both should compete for the customer benefit but i confuse, why Proton delayed the TRM launch since November 2004 and want to launch it nearly the same week as MyVi??? make non sense..

05-20-2005, 09:37 AM
TRM is open for booking in Malaysia.<p>Check out the teaser ad : <A HREF="http://www.proton.com/homepage.php" TARGET="_blank">http://www.proton.com/homepage.php</A><br>& <A HREF="http://www.proton.com/downloads/multimedia/Press_Ads_TRM_01.php" TARGET="_blank">http://www.proton.com/download...1.php</A><p>Platform,<p>To me Perodua Myvi vs Proton TRM is healthy competition. Without direct competition in terms of products and prices such as these and other carmakers (Picanto, Atos etc.), both will not be able to improve themselves, especially Proton who decides to do it on its own, unlike Perodua who have Daihatsu & Toyota as parents.<p>From feedback in local forums such as <A HREF="http://www.autoworld.com.my" TARGET="_blank">http://www.autoworld.com.my</A> and <A HREF="http://www.motortrader.com.my" TARGET="_blank">http://www.motortrader.com.my</A>, many had already written off Proton's effort compared to Myvi, but I would like the product to appear first in order to make better comparison. If Myvi is indeed much, much better, then good for Perodua, very bad for Proton. If TRM is quite competitive against Myvi, it's good for both of them.<br><BR><BR>

05-28-2005, 08:38 PM
yeah, its true..it will be a healthy competition between MyVi and TRM. Both got its own advantages & disadvantages.<p>But for Proton,i guess they will focus on how to increase it export market.<p>BTW,sorry again for my wrong statement :D
