it looks like that they decided at Audi, to go all the way and make all of their models to look like an egg to egg .... so, A8 is going to get new grille:

source autoscoops.tk/niews

Naaaa...On this pic is the W12! I'm wondering if the others models are going to look like this one too!
(lp, v lj :) )

Most likely, since that is the "new" company grill at audi, and eventually, all Audi's will have that grill

It was inevitable that the A8 sedan, excluding the A8 W12 would receive the new grill. All Audi's will have this grill and you can't stop it.

I thought that was already announced/ presented by audi that the A8 (as with the already shown A4) was definately gonna get the shield grill. Why is this thread new news?

Well it was shown on a long wheelbase version i think, i looks nice anyway. Is that all we get, a new grille? What about other changes?

yeah there obviously would have to be other changes beside the grill and maybe the steering wheel. I expect this car to have a 7-8 year run before they do a redesign, therefore a facelift with more changes like engines wouldn't be bad. but not yet. Maybe for 2007 or so
They have to keep up with BMW 7er facelift and power.

Already a facelift???? I understand they have to (try) to keep in touch with the S-Class but I still think this is way to soon and frustrating for the ones that have bought already the A8 but anyway it was predicable from Volkswagen

I don't think that Audi only changes the grille. They must also change the front lights. Otherwise one wouldn't recognize it as an Audi.
The front lights must look like this:

hi guys,
i just picked up a brand new A8 swb last night.
i'm not surprised by the change to the new front end.
i don't think Audi needed to do it just yet but in the end
if helps them sell cars they should go for it. i like the new
grill as well as the current one. either way i think that the
A8 is the best looking automobile in its class...i am biased of course

there was a advert for the new A8 W12 last night on Channel 4, if this is official, whys it in the spy shots area?

The A8 W12 was the first Audi model to sport the single-frame grille. It has since filtered down to A6 sedan and avant, A4 sedan and avant & A3 Sportback.
I'm sure the rest of the A8 variants will receive this grille, along with other sheet metal changes, when its midlife facelift is due.

Hehe, it's been assimilated
I saw a W12 before its introduction... it was at a dealer presentation here and I happened to pass it downtown
My personal opinion on the nose is that it looks like a freight train is coming down the street towards you

i have a hunch that the whole new grille thing could end up hurt audi in the long run
as that said, i like the a8, i always liked the a8, i still do, just not the grille

I think the grille suits the A8 and the reworked A6 (which I like a lot).
It's less satisfactory on the new A3 (despite which, I still like that car's styling).
It doesn't work at all on the A4, which Audi has just managed to transform from Cinderella into an ugly sister. Blecch!!!

With the new shield grille, Audis now look more sporty, rather than the elegant ones before. On the A6, the grille looks amazing, on the A4, I think it looks nice aswell. The A8, I've never really liked, I think I'd go for the funky 7-er, or the classy S-class. But I really can't see why people hate the new grille on the A4 so much.

What Audi is going to do is to use the W12 grill in all A8`s versions! The same thing should happen with the usage of the front of the A3 Sportback on the 3doors version!

just compare it to the new passat grill
http://bilder.autobild.de/bilder/1/65623.jpg
<irony>just look at the differences - amaaaazing</irony>
i think the design departments of vw/audi were outsourced

With the new A8, Audi changes and adds some details. For example, adaptive light now includes curve light and a new high end sound system will be offered. Developed with Bang & Olufsen, it will have 1000W.

Other than the badges and standard wheels(?), do the V8 A8's now look identical to the W12 A8s?
