wth?
There needs to be a line somewhere. How much power are these cars going to have?
More than 6 liters of displacement in a little C-class sedan is insane.

I agree about the C-class, but its nice to see Mercedes isn't afraid to match BMW tit-for-tat in the power games.

hmm.. i just see different bumbers, sideskirts, rims and a spoiler on the trunk
that few things make a boring car look amazing?

Those aren't 65AMG's, they're upgraded 55 AMG's and I'm not even sure they will be able to get outside Germany.

Whether they are called E63 or E65 would be interesting to know though.

C65! That is just out of control. Hate to say it, but it might be too much for that little thing.

the article leads me to believe that these are pictures of the C63, E63, and ML63 in testing. for those that don't know, the 6.3L V8 is intended to replace the naturally-aspirated 5.5L V8 currently used in a few of the AMG models, and formerly used in all before the advent of the supercharged 5.5. the only mention of any big biturbo V12 is when they say there could be a CLS65 in the future.

i really doubt the little ( and dumpy ) c classe is getting a twelve cylinder engine

I'm an active soccer player and one of the players in our team works at a local MB dealership. while driving to one of our games (in a brand new A200) we were talking about new models which will come soon.. he said he already has pics of the new S-class .. but of course he can't show me any. I asked him about the E65 and CLK65 and he said their defentely not coming. reason: they're pointless. Why? bcause the AMG philosophy prescreibes that their model should have at least 40% more performance than the top of the standard line. and since the S-CL-SL600 had almost the same performance as the 55AMG models (500hp), the 65 models were built. And that's also the reason why the A210 Evolution wasn't considered as an AMG model.

Again, what the heck are you guys talking about?!?! As far as has been heard, there will be no C65/E65. The highest they will go, at least in their current iterations, is C63/E63. Our friends at GCF have been helpful in clarifying that their will likely be a C60/E60 and C63/E63, with the larger number denoting a supercharged version of the 6.3 liter V8. I seriously doubt a V12 engine in the C-class, as well as in the E-class (at least until the next-generation version comes or at the very end of this model's life). I think a lot of us are getting confused, because the new V8 models will not be badged as 65s.

They look pretty good from these spy pics. I personally like the E-Class version better since the C-Class' looks tell you it's fast and mean whereas the E-Class looks just like a normal E-Class with dual exhausts.

Didn't Brabus or some one else put a V12 in a C-class?

im guessing this inline six that fits in the C clas is a diesel

Is this really the only way Mercedes can get 500hp without a supercharger?? They need 6.3 liters or 5.5 liters supercharged to do what a BMW 5.0 liter engine can do and yeah the benz have more torque but does a little sedan reallly need 700+ lb/ft torque??

Yeah, I dunno anything about a MB-produced inline-6. I thought they only made V6's?

It would be interesting to see if they could fit a V12 in there, but it would most likely require a strengthened front suspension.

But now that I remember, the c-class was offered a 5cyl diesel. That one was about the same size as the V8. Let me see if I can find the specs on these motors.

Mercedes made and used inline 6 engines in the pre-circular lamp E-classes( i.e 300E). V6 was introduced during their cost reduction era. They switched to 90 degree V6 so it share costs with their V8.
Presently Mercedes offers inline 6 diesel engines, but apparently they are repeating history by switching to a very odd 72 degree V6 for their next-gen diesels. Obviously the odd angle was chosen so it can share costs with the current 72 degree diesel V8. Plans of a V12 based on the V6 mean that the V6, V8, and V12 would all share the same bank angle and further increase cost sharing. Thats what I call smart engineering.
In regards to the AMG models, I don't like MB's philosophy on performance engines. They always go for big displacement or supercharger, SLR included. Their choice of big displacements is very american does not show engineering prowess. Even Audi is dumping their turbo philosophy for high revvers.

what the hell is the point of disguising the lights (back & front) and the badge and windows. Why.Is the E-Class testing alongside the M-Class?

That's because it's no AMG, just a package. But the AMG-version won't be much different from this.
