With the camouflage it looks like a Honda Accord EX-V6 A/T coupe...

12-20-2004, 10:23 PM
do you mean V-6 with automatic transmission? you think that just by looking at the camoflague?

12-21-2004, 05:05 AM
Looks like an Aston Martin under the camo to me.
I wish the made the coupe 40- series a whole different series. I'm a neat freak.
Should be a nice car.

12-21-2004, 04:48 PM
Hehe, I know it's a strech. But looking at the first picture, the headlights and the way the side windows slope forward remind me of the Accord V6, and the 5-spoke wheels put on this car make it look even more like the EX-V6 A/T.

12-21-2004, 05:25 PM
I can see the Honda Accord association too..
but one look at that front overhang gives it away.

12-21-2004, 10:56 PM
Does anyone know if styling is an in house job this time around? The Pininifarinia 406 Coupe is one of my favorite designs ever. In any case, this looks to be shaping up well.

12-22-2004, 12:17 AM
407 sedan is a homemade design, so my guess is that the coupe will be homemade as well. Strange thing that Peugeot is stopping working with Pininfarina after many years of sucessfull relationship.

01-23-2005, 12:33 PM
It is a bit TOO neat and balanced to be a in-house project...
...although IF it is, well done Peugeot. It really is a stunner (at least, the new "big grin" theme looks good on this one).

01-25-2005, 04:27 AM
The design is fairly good - the only problem I have with it is that the mirrors are still mounted further back from the A-pillar - MPV-esque like the saloon. My least favourite aspect of the design - the back is fan-bloody-tastic though.

01-25-2005, 07:25 AM
Despite the Chrysler Concorde nose, the proportions of the prototype seem quite nice. I have no idea what Peugeot's quality is like given that they are not sold in the USA, but assuming they are in the running with the top dogs like Toyota and Honda, it's a pity that Peugeot cannot sell product in the USA. I have noticed more than a few slick looking Peugeots that have avoided the eccentric French styling that Renault has inflicted on some of its cars. Any rumors of a Peugeot return to the USA?

01-25-2005, 09:33 AM
they covered that upp well cant really see anything ata ll,
the overall shape looks good though,
should be nice, i like most pug's

Porsche Cayman
01-26-2005, 12:42 AM
Peugeot Citron will go back to USA asap... their first models developed for this market are 407, C6 and 608.
The real problem isn't cars but dealership to sale something in this big country.
Some rumors wanted that Peugeot Citron will cooperate with Renault for coming to USA but now Renault will probably make deal with Nissan/Infinity.
Some others rumors wanted that Peugeot Citron's cars will rebadged with Panhard logo for USA but this brand is specialized in army vehicules and seems to be saled to another army vehicules maker.
Last rumor wants that Peugeot Citron will attack the USA by beginning with their own dealership in few city like New York where the "french touch" is really appreciated.

02-02-2005, 05:27 PM
Found this on the C4/Car website...
Looks nice and, quite honestly, more in line with most recent Peugeot styling...

(Source: http://www.channel4.com/4car/g...tml )
Even if it's most probably just a chop...me like it!

02-02-2005, 07:22 PM
Most definitely a chop. There's no way the front overhang will be that small. It almost looks normal there.
The projector lights in the AutoPlus pics make it look like some sort of insane fish. Still, the over-all shape looks quite nice thus far.

02-06-2005, 02:24 AM
the 407 salon rear lights is better for 407 coupe. i guess they should lower the coupe body and that's better for a coupe.

02-06-2005, 01:42 PM
This is promising. Peugeot's "Big Grin" cars have a lot of character. They are a big improvement on the likes of the 306.

Top Secret
02-12-2005, 03:41 AM
Prologue?! Is this a concept or is it ACTUALLY called Prologue?
Anyway, it looks very good, actually, one of the best, but I still think the 406 Coupe looks beter. But the roofline looks like a Holden Monaro.

02-12-2005, 03:42 AM
Yeah very nice car

02-12-2005, 06:39 AM
It is absolutely beautiful ! I hope peugeot will keep those alloy wheels (same design as the 907's... so we can hope...).
The new front is agressive, the grille much better than on the sedan and there are some nice details inside. I like the black paint effect on the console and the leather on the dash is beautiful too. it's probable that Peugeot will propose this full leather option as on the 307 cc .
Great job anyway, even if two separate exhausts pipes would have been better ... the back is a bit bland ...
One thing ... the terrific chassis deserves at least 250 bhp from a PETROL V6 ! the new diesel V6 is very refined and powerful , but frankly this stunning designs deserves a powerful petrol engine ... and a 6 speed manual gearbox !
Great job anyway ... let's wait until october !

02-12-2005, 06:40 AM
it looks alright, but not brilliant.
I'm disappointed they've given the coupe the same interior as the saloon (like they did with the 406).
And the back end looks a bit bulky, its not streamlined and flowing like the 406 coupe was.
the 406 coupe might be an old design, but i found it was a beauty and would still prefer one anyday over this 407. Why oh why did Pug design the 407 coupe, why couldn't they have left it to pinafarina again???

02-12-2005, 05:19 PM
Having seen this... thing all i can say is that i would prefer just removing two doors from the sedan. The sedan is sportier, more aggresive and IMHO more beautiful. This coupe is just conservative an it will seem dated in a few years.

02-13-2005, 01:16 AM
Agree with that. I consider this a step back in Peugeot's new styling tendencies. That rear lights would have fitted all right in a car from ten years ago. Headlights are more similar to those on 406 than the ones in 407, as well.

02-13-2005, 02:28 AM
i agree with you, Hakkinen, i prefer the back of the sedan. This bulky bumper does not fit with the sleek line of the car ...
as far as the interior is concerned ... it was obvious that peugeot would keep the design of the sedan, to keep the costs low ! Bmw, Mercedes, and many others do the same the for 3-series coupe, CLK , and there are many other examples ! (volvo C70 ...)
Turning Xenon headlamps and front parking sensors will apparently be fitted on this car.

02-13-2005, 03:41 AM
I don't know but I don't really like the 407's styling from the very beginning. Too radical, ill-proportioned? bland and blocky rear end. Mouth in front too big. But I must congradulate the designers for giving such powerful and special styling for a family saloon. I think the coupe's character matches the design theme better than the saloon...
Peugeot should make a 507 with rear wheel drive to fight the 3 series. The 504 was a great car with qualities lost in today's market. It makes today's peugeots feel cheap. I prefer the 504's serious looks than the funky looks in today's peugeot. even 607 adopts the funky look.
pininfarina designed 504 coupe

504saloon

504convertible

Those Alloy Wheels are so much like the MG ZT 260 design it is untrue.
They are great looking wheels - didn't ever think companies would copy MG Rover designs!

I wished I liked the smiley grill on the 407, but it has this Gomer Pyle grin thing going on that ruins the swoopy appeal to me. I like it for the most part tho. I hope Pug comes to the states, Id like to test drive one.

02-13-2005, 12:20 PM
The only thing I don't like, and this stands for the 4 door too, is the front overhang, its huge! The coupe even has vents on the side of the bumper to try to break up the size. Not good. Apart from that, its pretty good, agree about the exhausts though, they should be one each side, not 2 together.

02-14-2005, 12:54 AM
The shape of the headlights and grill are slightly different, but i think the differences are to little to give the 407 a more special look, judging from the pics. The side of the 407 on the pics gives me to much an 307CC feel, and thats not a positive thing in my eyes.

02-14-2005, 01:25 AM
Am I the only one who thinks that Peugeot didn't even try with those wing mirrors? I mean honestly, for such a sleek car, they could have integrated them a little better than that. It looks like they took the mirrors off of an 8-year old Accord and super-glued them on.
And forgive me, but is this a front-driver? Because as I mentioned in the concept cars thread, this thing has one hell of a front overhang IMO. All in all I think it looks more like a bloated, stylized replacement for the Sebring than the new 407 coupe. The last one wasn't this... portly.

02-20-2005, 11:57 AM
very nice. its a shame that peugeot stopped working with pinafaria..... the 406 coupe is soooooo nice. i had a word with my peugeot dealer and he was completely clueless about it but his boss was pretty sure that this will come out some point towards the end of this year, maybe early 2006

god i love the loosk of this car, i like french and italian mainstream cars so much i can cry

03-25-2005, 04:16 PM
Yeah it's a nice car but it think they should have gone for the understated look like the 406 coupe rather than this attetion seeking look..those LED's look nice though
03-26-2005, 04:33 AM
Put the camouflage back on!!! This is not a good-looking car.
The gaping front grille is out of proportion and accentuated by a rather strange egg-crate effect (to chrome or not to chrome? - heck, lets do both!). There's an oh-so-tacky attempt to disguise the huge front overhang with some superfluous slats. The cab-backward proportions are just plain wrong. I bet the driver couldn't touch the windshield if he/she tried.
And the rear lights appear to have been taken from a Mercury Cougar...
The 406 coupe is a delight, but now I understand why Peugeot "upgraded" it by outlining the front grille in chrome to make it stand out more. They were trying to prepare us for this horror.

I don't think that they would drive through normal city-traffic with the concept...
Look at Audi with the Pikes Peak or Le Mans: the magazines had to drive them in the desert.

03-27-2005, 06:01 PM
CAR tested some concepts on regular roads, like the Brera. But if it is a prototype, then it don't look that bad, but I still prefer the 406 coupe anyday.

03-28-2005, 11:48 PM
Spock, where did you find the pic of the 407 in th street, please ?
I think i've seen one and i'd like to be sure

03-29-2005, 03:06 AM
i guess this pic was taken near Rennes, in France, where the 407 coupé will be built (like the citroen c5 and 407) THe number 35 in the immatriculation plate says this car comes from the "ille et villaine" department ... the biggest city of the ille et villaine is Rennes.
This car is probably one of the very first definitive coupés, making a test drive near the factory.

03-29-2005, 04:23 AM

I like it too. I think that 406 was more streamlined though. I just hope that they'll give this better engines than the 406 coupe. It was such a shame to see a car like the 406 with such bad engines. The 406 was designed by Pininfarina. Did he designed the 407 too ??

03-30-2005, 10:27 PM
No, it's a home made design, which is not good at all.

03-30-2005, 11:53 PM
I think it's OK. Great designers do not live forever. It's a good think IMO that they try to find their own way through the design field of battle.

too bad it doesn't look as good as the old car; towards the rear it reminds me of a chrysler sebring or dodge stratus crossed with a pontiac G6. i still like it though

The car is growing on me now, I actually like the new front and it fits in here better than on the sedan, the rear is not bad as well, I don't see the sebring that much in the rear, maybe the older generation.
But I do agree, it's not better than the old car.
I do like the one with the blue colour more so than the other colours.

It would be an elegant car if it would not seem to have the wheel-base of a 206!

06-04-2005, 04:38 PM
It certainly loos better in the blue pix, but there's something that bothers me about the rear side window, the way it's finished maybe?
Possibly chrome trim would give it a lift, or possibly a nice dark tint. In the top blue pic that looks darker and the glass bonding area is less obvious and it looks better. Something about that area looks dated to me. Maybe its the kink, as the the Elixir looks fine in that area. I also think they should've kept the side crease!
wow. when i saw the press pics of the concept I thought it was so ugly, the back end of the car looked too big. but now seeing all these pics it looks considerably better.
The back end looks ok now - except in red! it blends in too much with the elegant rear lights.

the front looks really bizarre, like they tacked on a new front end of a much bigger car to a much sleeker car. damn those european pedestrian laws.

The back looks very nice indeed. It's just the front and profile I have a problem with. As you get nearer to the front it gets worse. I don't like where the wing mirrors are mounted - very MPV-ish - and that front overhang is too big. I suppose they couldn't have made too many changes over the saloon, which I'm not really a fan of. Shame because the 406 (pre end of life face-lift) was such a beautiful looking car.

06-23-2005, 07:22 PM
I like it, but youre right, its not the classic that the 406 coupe is. That car, however was styled by Pininarinia, whereas this one was in-house.

In sedan form yes, I prefer the look of the 407 over the 406, but when in coupe form, the 406 coupe really does it for me.
