Dr Manfred Stolpe, German Minister of Transport, Building and
Housing, Margareta Wolf, Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry
for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, and Georg Wilhelm
Adamowitsch, State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Economics and Labour,
today open the German capital's first public hydrogen filling station. In
addition to conventional fuels, it offers hydrogen in the form of gas
(Compressed Gaseous Hydrogen - CGH2) and in liquefied form (Liquid Hydrogen -
LH2). The latter boasts a higher energy density and is favoured by the BMW Group
as it gives vehicles a greater range. As a project partner in the Clean Energy
Partnership (CEP), the BMW Group is playing an active role in the demonstration
programme by running trial vehicles based on the hydrogen-powered 7 Series.
"In this inauguration, we are pointing the way forward for sustainable mobility.
This project makes it patently evident that hydrogen has a high potential as a
replacement for oil and other fossil energy forms in many areas", declared Dr
Stolpe. Representing the BMW Group, Christoph Huss, Director of Science and
Transport Policy, added: "The BMW Group has been driving forward the development
of hydrogen vehicles for more than 20 years now. With the opening of this
hydrogen filling station in Berlin, all partners of the CEP have come a
significant step closer to fulfilling their vision of turning sustainable
mobility into reality."
As part of the opening ceremony, the fuelling of a BMW test car with liquid
hydrogen is presented to the government representatives. In the course of the
project, an entire fleet of BMW hydrogen-powered vehicles will be deployed in
Berlin.
Basis of the CEP Berlin: the Transport Energy Strategy
The involvement in the CEP Berlin is part of the BMW Group's involvement in
setting up an infrastructure for hydrogen vehicles. The basis of this is the
Transport Energy Strategy (TES). More than ten partners from the motor and
energy industry are collaborating in this group. The aim of the TES is to
introduce a countrywide supply network for the sustainable energy carrier
hydrogen. The German government is backing and overseeing the work of this
group, which was set up on the initiative, among others, of BMW AG. The Clean
Energy Partnership in Berlin is a project by the TES.
Coming to customers soon: BMW hydrogen cars
BMW AG will be offering customers a production car with a hydrogen combustion
engine during the production period of the current BMW 7 Series. This will
feature a bivalent drive that runs on hydrogen as well as petrol. It will mean
that the BMW flagship can be filled with both fuels depending on availability
and infrastructure in order to guarantee mobility for the customer.

http://www.germancarfans.com/s...L.jpg
http://www.germancarfans.com/s...L.jpg
23 pages of discussion in the old thread. Go and read it, I don't have the enerygy to move it all over

Hmm, that red car looks like a CLS. And with what seems to be optional AMG wheels, too.
Interesting benchmark for this car, unless it's for the 5er underneath, or some other car out of frame.

I will be very pleased if the cars finally turns to be like that germancarfans pics. However, from what i've seen, the new S-Class will obliterate all rivals....too bad for us BMW lovers.

Today I had three new 7-series prototypes right in front of my car on the autobahn. All of them in a light blue color. They had the lower trunk-hood uncovered and the back-skirt also. There are no visible mufflers, but the skirt looks like the former facelifted Mercedes C-Class - kinda sporty ! The only covered pieces were still the lights on the trunk-hood and the signals at the front. It doesn't looked too bad!
I hope, that I'll catch them soon with my cam ...

Some of us have seen pics of the car you are describing. Not much can be discerned from them because BMW has molded their camouflage to look sort of like the current model. Then they painted everything the color of the car (light blue). You really can't see much more than what we've seen to date.

I think the 7 equipt with the 535d's engine would stand a small chance of hanging on in europe. Just as Hornbag..1 said, the S-class is looking like its gonna strangle all the competition. Somehow feeling the impression that the impact would even be more than that of the current S.
edremix
01-01-2005, 07:56 AM
Yeah, that's the one of them 7series facelifts I've seen.
The skirt at the back - is just like I told you. It's final, but the real lights at the trunk hood are still covered under the old style camo. The bigger numerplate area is just of the us-version.
New are the chrome elements at the doors an the sides of the roof.
At the front the grill is final. The front skirt is also still covered. I guess the will be round foglights under the camo - just like the current 3series. Signals probably at the top and on the side ...

Well, it does look a little better. But just a facelift won't let it hold its own against a brand new car. I still wish they would change that trunk.

Look closely and you will see the new tail lights spread across the trunk . Much discussed here . Also look at the shape of the trunk lid . You can see it is more curvacious than the current car - forming a visual link with the 6er coupe.
And of course Most importantly....
JANUARY 18TH 2005.

I already have got the latest issue of ams. It is only retouched images of the 7series BMW. But I'm sure that is the real thing. Usually ams gets their hands on images that have some sort of deadline before being allowed to be published.
For example 1 week before the official pics of the b class concept were out, ams already had some 100% matching chops.

Take a look at the best pictures yet of BMW's facelifted 7-Series. Caught by one of our spy photographers wearing only a light disguise, the revised model won't be officially unveiled until March's Geneva Motor Show.
As you can see, the changes will be subtle, with the disguise intended to hide the discreetly remodelled bodywork. At the front, new headlights are fitted, while the bonnet line and bumper have also been reshaped.
At the rear, those visible rivets either side of the blue and white badge are a clue that the fresh bodywork is hidden below fake trim. Showroom models will have a smoother, less bulbous backside. The engine range will also be updated, with the addition of two new powerplants. At launch, the latest aluminium straight-six petrol motor from
the 630i will be available - but buyers who want the most powerful diesel variant will have to wait. A 735d-badged oil-burner, using a 272bhp twin-turbo unit, will be added to the line-up later.
Unfortunately, our photographer was chased away by test drivers when he tried to move in for an interior shot, but fresh trim and switchgear are expected. The biggest change is tipped to be a rethink of the controversial iDrive control system to make it simpler to use.
Although official dates and price details have yet to be released by BMW, the revised right-hand-drive UK-spec 7-Series is tipped to go on sale soon after its debut at the Swiss exhibition.
Modified by omar at 2:52 PM 1/7/2005

Yes, have seen those before. I just hope the front looks like your chop, very fluid design, just nice and bmw-like. Just the back...i know nearly every impression has the same back, and i guess you have nailed it, but it looks horrible and seems to spoil the character of the 7series' back. Let's just wait, just 10more day to go...

Hello,
on the page http://www.bmw.de you can click at "Finanzierungsrechner". Then you have to click to the 7-series and you can see a data-table of the old and the new types. If you click at one of them, you can see the engine-power and the price in germany.
Best regards from germany
Klaus

The bootlid is changing a bit more than that, because you can see riveted panels over the whole deck and rear. If I had to guess, I would say that they are integrating it better, while making it even more Bangled.

Judging by the reflection, the new front looks a lot more rounded instead of the brick-ish look the current car has. Too bad about the new trunk design, I *really* like the current one.

Same. But I really like how the new 7 Series will turn out - the bootlid is certainly better executed than the current - more like the 6 Series, where it is more rounded.

18th was to be the actual date for release in reality it was for BMW dealers and employees world wide as they got their glimpse of the new car on that day . official press release is for this week . Hence the very low key announcements at Detroit - We are keeping the big guns for Geneva and Frankfurt and Tokyo.
