It seams to me that suzuki is making there vehicles look better and want to battle with other vehicles.

Have we figured out if this uses the same platform as the equinox since their built at the same plant, CAMI?

I like it, looks very modern. Anyone knows if this car will be much more expensive than the current one?

My speculation is that this is the one, since it looks to be the same size as the Equinox, Vue, and upcoming Torrent.

You can't find them on AutoBild because they've been removed for some reason. With some effort you can find the gallery, but the pics are gone.
The new compact and midsize Suzukis apparently use a new rwd crossover architecture. GM tried to sell Suzuki on a version of the 7-seat S3X, but Suzuki liked their new r/awd architecture better, even if the midsize version is more of a stretch.

I've heard both that this new Grand Vitara is Theta and the next XL-7 is on a new Suzuki platform OR that the new Grand Vitara is on a Suzuki platform (which may explain why the spare tire is on the liftgate) and the next XL-7 is on Theta...

When is it to be launched and where?
I heard from our local Suzuki delaer that they should receive units in July this year and they expect a 15% price jump.
No word on the 3 dr version, no?

jro4566
01-12-2005, 07:02 AM
The U.S. won't get a 3-door version, and I hardly suspect a 15% price jump - a little too much.
No idea when they'll hit dealers, except that it will be in 2005. I expect them to be here in September, when Suzuki usually releases their vehicles.

The thing is that we currently get a stripped down unit with a 2.0L unit in it (no airbags, AC, ABS, etc). So if the new model incorporates standard items like I am guessing (such as Airbags and ABS at least and probably A/C) at least 15% is plausible plus we are directly affected by the US $ - Yen situation that is absorbed to a point by Suzuki America IMO...

Yes, there will be a 1.9 Common Rail Diesel, the one made by FIAT and can be found in other GM related companies SAAB, Opel etc.
There will also be a twin car with FIAT badges

Yup, it's now official: Theta will be used in the next XL7, not this GV.
