It's OK...nothing spectacular, but not bad at all.

12-21-2004, 11:00 PM
Well, for better or for worse, it looks like the Clio is finally getting the full Renault family treatment. The chops kinda remind me of a mix between the Megane and the current Clio.

The Water Is Poison

I wonder what the V6 sport version or whatever its called will look like

12-22-2004, 07:42 AM
probably psychotic much like the current one

12-23-2004, 02:56 PM
hm... it realy is bit Pugish...

It has more similarities with the 206

12-28-2004, 04:12 PM
hmm... it remindes me more of 307 because of the door handels, shape of the side windows, the way of the angle between windscreen and bonnet, the share of nose itself and the line that front light takes at side. even rear end and side silhuet looks more as 307 than 206... it's more boxy than 206... here, take a look:

these ones above me looks sorta like chops... anyone agree? maybe more so the background... but the car looks pretty good, not to bland

02-23-2005, 07:51 AM
it reminds me more of a Honda jazz than anything else

02-23-2005, 09:42 AM
nice..smart design especially the front design..but the rear design looks cute that totally not a good combination with the aggressive front look.

04-13-2005, 07:14 AM
This is a quite officil picture. It's nice but the rear end is veeeery similar to the Astra's:

Best regards,
don CONSIGLIO

the last Clio sold brilliantly, but it was a seriously flawed car. The driving position wasn't too good, and rear headroom was disgraceful.
We can only see the outside, but it looks good. I hope the interior quality is better than the one leaked photo shows.

So what are these other serious flaws??

04-13-2005, 11:14 PM
The common word on the automotive press here is that the steering wheel of the Clio is too big in diameter and it's position is too horizontal, thus the wrong driving position. It's a question of personal taste though. I've driven it and i hated it, that's all i can say.

i dont have a problem with the pedals or the steering (i'll take pics tomorrow and post of where the pedals are in comparison to the steering wheel).
driving over a speed hump at a speed which causes rear passengers to hit their heads on roof is a serious flaw of the CAR and not the DRIVER.
::rolls eyes::
and the bonnet release catch is off-centre to the right, whats the problem?

04-14-2005, 07:52 PM
Better back end from Renault but that area does reminds me of BMW 1-series hatchback.

04-15-2005, 08:50 AM
Looks okay (esp rear 3 quarter view); but don't you think it's time to move the styling game forward? (3 years ago the megane hatch looked radical; i still like it; however, the vel satis concept (that influences renault to this day) is nearly 7 years old.) I am commenting on euro design as a whole (for eg. the 1990s tt concept still influences proportions, fenders etc.) Are any of you getting as jaded and bored as moi?

Hailed as a spiritual successor to the classic Clio Williams of the Nineties and current 182 Cup model, the newcomer has been given a muscular look. But fans will be shocked to learn that Renault has opted to fit a four-cylinder engine.
Bosses have decided not to build another V6-powered Clio, but promise that the RS seen here will be capable enough for the most demanding enthusiasts.
"The all-new model will fill the gap left when the current 2.0-litre and V6 cars reach the end of production. The V6 was only ever intended to be a one-off," a spokesman explained. The new Clio was exclusively revealed by Auto Express in standard trim in issue 854, but the RS version will move the game on again.
The overall shape and details, including the front and rear lights and the windows, are all carried over, but much of the bodywork is new. And it's been developed with British buyers in mind.
The spokesman continued: "The current Renaultsport 182 was styled for conservative European markets as well as the UK. That's why it doesn't look hugely different to standard models. As 50 per cent of Clio RS models are now sold in the UK, this time designers have produced what British buyers want."
And as the exclusive images in this week's mag show, the result is one of the most striking and muscular hot hatches ever seen.
The front bumper is low and wide, giving an aggressive stance. Viewed from the side, all the classic hot hatchback cues can be seen, including wide wheelarches, oversized alloy wheels and plenty of chrome details.
However, it's at the rear that Renault's designers have decided to throw caution to the wind, with a silver lower bumper section incorporating an aerodynamic undertray. Like all models to wear the Renaultsport badge, the Clio promises to offer a truly special driving experience. Power will come from a tuned 2.0-litre four-cylinder powerplant producing around 200bhp. Likely to be offered with an advanced traction control system, the car will sprint from 0-60mph in less than seven seconds, going on to a top speed approaching 150mph.
Only too aware that being fast in a straight line isn't enough, Renault's engineers will be working flat-out to ensure the Clio has the handling to match its power. Even standard versions of the new hatch are expected to prove great driver's cars, and the RS will provide more grip and agility than any of its predecessors. With official details still under wraps, no prices have been announced yet, but Renault bosses have confirmed that the hot Clio will be cheaper than the Mégane 225. Buyers of the Clio RS should expect to pay around £17,000.
As part of the launch of the new supermini, the sporting flagship will be unveiled alongside low-spec models at September's Frankfurt Motor Show. While standard versions will arrive in British showrooms at the end of this year, the RS range-topper is unlikely to hit the UK until autumn 2006 at the earliest".

They have another winner in their hands, this car looks great, very cool and modern, and it will probably appeal to more people than the Megane did. But like on every new Renault interior ( Modus, Megane, Scenic ) the beige version looks... not good. It's much better in black.

Sorry but the answer is no, no new V6. It has been confirmed by Renault, who says that the new RS will be good enough so nobody will miss the old V6.

A Renault insider told 4Car this week that "if Renaultsport were to produce a high-performance coupe, it could well wear the Alpine badge".
This coupe, to be made by Renault's Renaultsport division (which has its headquarters in the former Alpine factory in Dieppe), will be a stand-alone model, probably with design elements first seen in the Fluence and Wind concept cars. It will be in place of a new-generation Clio V6, once that model is discontinued later this year, though it is unlikely to go into production before 2007, as the Dieppe factory's spare capacity is being utilised to make 1.2-litre versions of the outgoing Clio, which will continue on sale as entry-level models after the launch of the new-generation range at least until the all-new Twingo goes on sale next year.

http://www.channel4.com/4car/n...12582
