Looks very nice.. a shame about the orange colour and chrome exhausts though!
Im sure in black that this would look very mean indeed..

01-02-2005, 12:18 PM
are they going to do a five door Focus V6 ST? I would buy one,its got to be black with tinted windows and must have two exhausts
01-02-2005, 01:01 PM
Ahh yes, the Focus we in the U.S. do not get. Heck, they even killed our SVT!

01-02-2005, 07:29 PM
That orange is sweet! OMG, that video was like life changing for me!!! lol, the car just looks soooo good...

You know, I still don't like the look of the Focus, it just looks weird with the rear lights on the top...
But, with a V6, it'll be a sure-fire beast.

I'm not a big fan of Focus...or ford for that matter...but this car is starting to look better...it's still weird...but I like it much better than the previous Focus..so good job Ford for making something a tad bit better
Auto Zeitung wrote, that the Focus will get a turbo-charged 2.4l 5-cylinder engine with 220 bhp.
This should be the Volvo engine which is used eg in S40 T5.
The RS-successor with AWD will get a 5-cylinder engine with 300 bhp. Probably this is Volvo S60 R's 2.5l engine.

They also printed a (bad?) chop:

01-03-2005, 08:47 AM
Dont they need to produce a 2.0L turbo for the WRC series? Or can they retrofit and engine for rally use?

I love it!
This or the V30 which ever comes to America ( I hope one does ) will be my next car.

Really chunky looking car

01-04-2005, 03:11 AM
Why doesn't Ford ask cosworth to develop a kickass engine like they used to. They really disappointed me by using a volvo engine, even if the engine is good, it doesn't suit the sporty focus and isn't a ford engine.

It looks very chunky, like Audi's, from the front, but I absolutely loathe the rear.
I'm not saying the Focus looks like an Audi, but rather that Audi's also give off a very chunky look to it, like the RS6.

has anyone noticed the tape on the badge? V6 ST don't suit the Focus

besides which, Ford SOLD Cosworth. Gone. Good-bye.

01-04-2005, 07:31 AM
Technically a Volvo engine is a Ford engine since Ford owns Volvo Cars...
Additionally, if its a good engine and the car runs good, who cars who sources the engine

Cosworth was split into Cosworth Racing and Cosworth Technology. Ford bought Cosworth Racing a few years back and recently sold it to Kevin Kalkhoven and Gerald Forsythe when they sold the Jaguar F1 team. I believe Audi are also looking for a buyer for Cosworth Technology.
However, I am still hearing rumours that Cosworth Racing has an active production engine development project for Ford. This would most likely be some kind of performance unit. Cosworth Racing has had some experience with the Duratec unit - they recently created an aftermarket kit for the Ford (actually Mazda) Duratec units in the US. They are also supplying a Duratec engine for Caterham road cars. A turbocharged Duratec would seem the natural choice for the next generation RS. It could even carry the Cosworth badge (although I'm hearing that it won't). Only rumours though.
It seems pretty certain that the ST model will be using the Volvo unit. The RS model might too, no-one seems to know for sure. The Focus ST is pretty near a launch. I would be extremely suprised if we didn't see it at Geneva.
Here is a higher res version of the AutoTelegraaf chop. Apparently supposed to be the RS.

Very nice David. Thanks for those. I just love how they outline all the little bits with small strips of chrome, yet it looks so good. The red really brings out the car.
